I am currently on assignment with AMN in SoCal and NEED out of my contract.. the hospital that I am at is killing people and I will not work here any longer. I have followed all protocol in speaking with my clinical manager, having meetings with my managers from the hospital, etc and was told by the clinical manager at AMN that I can get out of the contract but she said there will be fees for leaving the housing early, however, now they won't tell me what those fees are... anyone ever have this happen? I need to get the ball rolling on getting out of this contract but I need to know what it's going to cost me first.. I still have to pay off my nursing student loans! Help

Contact the Apt or Hotel manager and find out how much the monthly rent is.. They will probably try to say you have to give 30-day notice but at least you will know what they are trying to hit you for. Truth be told the worst they could do is keep your last check and not hire you again for awhile.

they need to have your back. talk to your recruiter. they can eat the fees and keep you as a traveler. don't pay the fees. worse case they take it out of last paycheck i guess. hope it goes well.

Just wondering what facility this is. I wanted to leave a contract in SoCal last year.

don't trust AMN to have your back, that's for sure. Actually, I wouldn't trust any recruiter or travel company with anything.

Cjann, if you are using the same email with American Mobile, they may now know who you are. You may want to delete your email address, others can still contact you privately via your profile without exposing email addresses.
If you have the same question as the OP, penalties for leaving early should be spelled out in your contract. The rest is negotiation, part of which will be your established value to AM. If you have no history with them, you have little negotiating power.
One chip you may use is taking another assignment with them for waiving penalties on this one. I wouldn't blame you for not trying that, if they are not supporting your decision to leave early - assuming you have good cause (working conditions, housing, family emergency) - then you won't work for them again.
Take your lumps if you feel like that is best for you, and don't worry about the finances, that is just short term.

I'm of the opinion of that my nursing license is more important than any contract. When I work with unsafe staffing ratio I make it known that I feel it unsafe. I won't desert my patients but if something DOES happen I want it documented that told the charge nurse, house super, whoever my concerns. I'm not going down alone!

You can always state "unsafe".period. BUT if they already paid you housing fees...they will take out of your last check. Same happened to me. I dont think there is anyway around it..I could be wrong but its because they are paying you money you dint earn yet..make sense?? Its not actually a fee for leaving contract.
