Hello All!
Has anyone worked for American Healthways? They are located in the Westport area. I know a couple of people who worked there but quit because they said they were too bored. They didn't give me much else about the job. Just wanting to know if anyone has any info (good, bad, or otherwise) on the job, environment, benefits, etc. Thanks a lot!

Hi,
I know many nurses who use to work at AH. They said it was like a nurse sweatshop where you literally only had 3 minutes to go to the bathroom. Phone calls were timed. By the time the caller got their meds to review the time was up. Many of these nurses moved to DM at an insurance company. I interviewed there and thought there were "red flags". The nurse interviewing me was very nice and I had actually worked with her years ago. I thought there starting salary was low. They said there were days open but you would find out after you started. Pretty much a "bait and switch" promising days no Saturdays but really it is either every Saturday or all evenings. No flexibility and everyone does the same thing. Yes you could get bored fast. But if you want to get your foot in the door and get experience in this area it is a good starting point.
Thanks for the info. I actually spoke to a recruiter there since I first posted. It seems more like a telemarketing firm. She said that the majority of the time, clients do not even know you're calling, not familiar with the services and it's up to you to "sell" them on it. You have to be on the dialer 85% of the day, have at least 3 successful calls an hour and meet other performance standards they had in place. The only good thing were the hours, 10a-830p Tues-Fri and one Sat every 5 weeks(if that's even true). didn't sound like a place I'd be happy working. Oh well!
