Am I Too Old?

Published

;)Am a 2nd career RN (was a programmer all my life), just got my RN at age 52. Am I too old to start my career in the ER? Am looking at a Baylor position (so at least it will be days vs. nights).

Am a good team player and feel I have good instincts and learn quickly. Is there hope that I will be hired...or will they think I'm too old????

Thanks for your input, ER nurses.........

Good luck with your decision and thanks for your enthusiastic reply!!

I am making a career change to nursing after being the business world the past few years....what I liked about getting my RN were the options that would be available once I was licensed....I truly wish you the best!!

Im older than that

Remember that you are only as old as you feel. In this case, the new area and being faced with so much information that is new to you, might just make you feel younger than ever. I am a new LPN at 50 and will have my RN, hopefully, when I am 51. I have worked in the ED at my hospital for almost three years as a PCT, and because of this, knew the operation and flow of the unit. I may be older than some of the others, but I don't have any problems learning and everyone I work with is being incredibly supportive. Good luck to you. I hope things work out well.
