Am I still a new grad???

Hello everyone! I just have a quick question. I just returned to California from working out of state for 10 months. I am a new grad and couldn't find a job so I left and was able to work for 10 months and then had to come home due to my husbands business, it just wasn't financially feasible to stay where we were. My husbands business lost more in the 10 months we were out of state then what I would have made in a year there. We have a young son so him commuting back and forth too much was out of the question! well my question is would I be considered a new grad still or should I not apply to new grad programs?

No...It sounds like you are a new nurse but you have worked for 10 months, so not a new grad.

You are no longer a new grad. Too bad you are two months shy of one year of acute care experience.

You can apply for a per diem position to get those last two months, or one hospital that is hiring nurses with a minimum of 6 months acute care experience is Kindred Hospital. They're an LTAC hospital.

Thank you for replying, but I didn't mention I do have a job in the ER it's just such a long commute, I will have to spend a couple of nights in that town due to the cost of gas and the time to commute there, and I was pondering the idea of applying for new grad positions but didn't know if I was still considered a new grad. Thank you for the advice. I know a couple of people that work for Kindred and are not too fond of it but people make their own experience to a point.
