Am I ready to take my NCLEX??

Published

I graduated Dec 20th and I am taking the boards next week March 30th. I am soooooooo scared!!! What if I fail?? I have been doing Kaplan questions and I did Hurst review. My scores for the Q trainer ranged from 68% to 73%, I got a 73 and 69 on the last two q trainers. On the Q bank my scores range from 60 to 76 with 67 being my average. I am really exhausted and tired of all this studying . Just the thought of studying makes me tired. Do you think I am ready to take it? what where your scores and how did you do on NCLEX the first time?

I also graduated in December, and I did the Hurst review along with a Kaplan question book. I finally took my NCLEX in February after changing the date twice because I freaked out a week before. I passed on the first try in 75 questions! It's true when they say the worse you feel the better you're doing. I walked out of the testing center positive that I blew it. You're probably better off than you feel. The Hurst review and Kaplan questions were a good mix of preparation styles. By the way, I don't know what state you're in, but I'm in PA and the Pearson Vue "trick" worked for me (nearly instant results).

What was your hurst QReview scores?

Hurst review lowest was 89 highest was 104, average high 90's out of 125....is that good/bad? I don't know I'm freaking out. My Kaplan scores scare me the most.

To be honest I never even made it to the Q-review tests. I was so focused on studying and doing the Kaplan questions I ran out of energy and time. But based in the scores you gave it sounds like you're fine. Just keep doing more questions and reviewing. Don't do any studying the day before... you'll need that mental break to be able to focus the next day.

What were your scores on Kaplan Q bank and Q trainer and how many questions did you do? Sorry I'm really nervous

It's okay I was really nervous too. The Kaplan book I used was broken into learning chapters (health promotion and maintenance, etc.) with 20-30 questions after each chapter (11 chapters total). I did all those questions but never got to the 265 question practice test at the end or check out the online modules. They said in the Kaplan book that scores of 70% or better indicate a good understanding of the material and scores of 60-69% indicate you have areas of content that need more review. Besides those Kaplan quizzes I did about 100 or 200 questions from another book I had (can't remember the name).

I thought the rule of thumb on Kaplan Trainers was >60% = good to go, and >65% is excellent.

I'm getting even more anxious...I'm not sure if my scores are good...some people tell me 60, some say 65 and I even heard from someone high 80's.:nailbiting:

I had only one week to study for my exam. For my Q trainer i averaged 60 and Q bank I averaged 55. I was sure I was going to fail, but I passed at 150ish. I trusted my instructors who said I was good to go, but warned me I was not going to pass at 75.

If I studied more and had better scores on kaplan, then i'm sure I would have passed at 75.

Really? You only studied for a week?? How did you do in Nursing school. And did you take any review classes? If so which ones?

Look, your scores are good. You've been out of school for three months. Why wait any longer? Some studies show waiting longer just decreases you chances of passing.

I'm the taking it next week and your scores are higher than mine so far.
