I have red/green colorblindness and I'm Male. I'm just sick of driving truck and I see a lot of LPN nursing home jobs around my area. Is it an enjoyable job? I just know what I've seen at the Hospital with a few different situations with my wife, son and friends in the ICU. I'm glad I've never been in ICU myself, but I find it interesting.
I'm 35 years old also. My thought is that a 1 year program wouldn't be that bad. Are the classes super difficult?

The color-blindness might possibly interfere with your ability to perform patient assessments, which depend on visual acuity and the capability to discriminate between colors.
It is certainly possible to derive enjoyment out of a nursing home LPN job, since some of the elderly residents can provide very interesting company. Nursing home residents need good nurses who want to actually be there.
You say that you are 35 years of age. I know of people who have successfully completed LPN programs while being 50+ years old, so age doesn't have to be an issue if you do not want it to become one.
Some people say that LPN programs are hard and others think the classes are easy. It all depends on several factors, and it is generally true that some people bring more academic preparation to the table than others.

I recommend being a cna in a nursing home first. Not only does it make you a better nurse but LPN programs (which generally have a long wait list) are more likely to accept you. How enjoyable the job is varies from place to place. Good signs are : good state survey (4-5 stars), friendly staff indicates teamwork, place that is not constantly hiring. A good perk many places will pay for your school if you agree to work there x # of years after you graduate.
