Am I competitive applicant?

Specialties CNM

Published

Hello!

I am finishing up my application for Frontier's next class for nurse midwifery. Frontier is very competitive, so I'm nervous. I also plan to apply to Bethel's midwifery program.

-My undergraduate GPA for my BSN is 3.5. My graduate GPA is 3.8. I tried to do better in my BSN program, but as a parent that went through a divorce during the program while working part-time, I could only do so much! I was pretty young, too.

-L&D nurse for 3.5 years

-OB/GYN clinic nurse. There are MD's, DO's, and CNM's in the office

-I have extra responsibilities at my current job, and I plan to become a lactation champion. Hopefully I will get my CLC this next year.

-I don't currently volunteer, unfortunately.

What else can I do to become a good applicant if I don't get in first round? I appreciate all the help! I really want to get accepted.

Happy Holidays!

It’s so strange because this was weighing on my mind all morning, and this afternoon I received a call that I was accepted !! I have 1 week to decide if I’m going to accept the offer, and until mid June to decide on the 2 or 3 year track!! She said they will put together a financial aid package probably by early next week. I’m super excited and super nervous all at the same time. I’m thinking they waited to send out the waitlist letters until after the acceptance deadline to see how many declined the offer. Like Kari said to me, life happens and people have a couple months to back out even if they accept. Kari is on maternity leave now, and Kasin is covering her, she was also super nice and informative, so if you have any questions she will be great to connect with also!! Fingers crossed for you though!!

Congratulations!!

Thank you ?!!

Good morning!

Has anyone that accepted a spot in Bethel's midwifery program for this fall received their Welcome Packet yet? I'm still waiting on mine so was just wondering.

Hi, I have not received a welcome packet yet, but I also just accepted my spot last Friday.  I also have been logging in to the MyBethel portal to see if there have been any new notifications, and nothing. I wasn’t sure if I needed to submit anything besides the FAFSA for financial aid, so I was checking on that. I feel like there is so little time all of a sudden T - 12 weeks ! Hopefully we hear something soon !!

OK thanks! Glad it's not just me. I feel lost too!!

Hey everyone,  I just got a call from Marsha, a woman with the student experience team. She emailed me information for the online orientation. We can get started ASAP and it goes over how the program works, where we find our class schedule, how to order books etc... I still haven’t heard anything from financial aid though, but hopefully soon ..... it’s finally starting to feel real!

Yes, I got a call also! Thanks! It's coming fast!!

We got this!

Congratulations!! How was the interview process with them?!

I didn't have to do an interview with Frontier. I'm surprised, but it wasn't too bad of an application process.

I just recieved a call this morning and I have been pulled off the waitlist! I am so excited and was totally was not expecting a call for awhile or at all! Now to decide if I'm going to do the 2 year track or 3 year!

Congratulations... That’s such awesome news! Same here, I definitely got called much sooner than expected.... I chose the 3 year, because I need to work as much as possible and I have 4 kids, so I’m so busy already.... I also prefer my husband not leave me ? I just finished my online orientation that they assigned, even thought we have until August 1st to do it.... I was so excited I just wanted to get it done, LOL.... best of luck !!

Thank you!! Yeah that makes sense for you to do the 3 year track with you being super women and all LOL. I on the other hand am a New Grad and have been struggling to land a job. It's crazy competitive in Ca for New Grads, especially trying to get into L&D or Mother Baby. If I choose the 2 year track I'll definitely take out a school loan big enough to help pay for my living expense and not work.

Quick question. Can someone tell me how much the enrollment holding fee is again? I can't remember and am unable to login into my portal. IT is going to help me fix it tomorrow so I can accept my offer but I would like to know today if possible.
