Hello!
I am finishing up my application for Frontier's next class for nurse midwifery. Frontier is very competitive, so I'm nervous. I also plan to apply to Bethel's midwifery program.
-My undergraduate GPA for my BSN is 3.5. My graduate GPA is 3.8. I tried to do better in my BSN program, but as a parent that went through a divorce during the program while working part-time, I could only do so much! I was pretty young, too.
-L&D nurse for 3.5 years
-OB/GYN clinic nurse. There are MD's, DO's, and CNM's in the office
-I have extra responsibilities at my current job, and I plan to become a lactation champion. Hopefully I will get my CLC this next year.
-I don't currently volunteer, unfortunately.
What else can I do to become a good applicant if I don't get in first round? I appreciate all the help! I really want to get accepted.
Happy Holidays!
Hey everyone, I applied to Bethel CNM and I was waitlisted for Fall 2021. I’m so disappointed since this is the only school I applied to. Kari told me there was 9 applicants on the waitlist. She also said that if I don’t get in this year then they can push through my application for next year, without having to redo the whole application process.
I am so happy I found this thread, I was going stir crazy trying to find someone in my position. I am a member of a facebook group for L&D nurses and I was searching the group for someone else in my position, but came up empty. The interviewers I met with (Katrina and Renee) also asked me if I knew any CNM’s and if they would possibly precept me when the time came. Unfortunately, my hospital doesn’t have midwives (OB chief said they don’t make the hospital any money ??♀️, when I asked him), so I have minimal leads for that, but I know how and where to find them if needed. Anyways, thanks for listening to my ramble!! Best of luck to everyone !!

Hey Jen,
Kari told me she couldn't disclose any information regarding the status of the waitlist. So, I didn't even know that there was only 9 of us on the list. She also said she couldn't tell me why I wasn't selected. I asked what I could've improved on and wasn't provided any feedback.

Kari was very vague to me, but I emailed her a couple questions after I got off the phone with her. She said the accepted applicants have until May 15 to accept or decline their spot. I know once they accept they have until before the program starts to withdraw. My concern is my family, I have 4 kids and my husband owns a business, so I like to plan. Also, I applied for federal aid, but I don’t know how long that’s available for either. So many unanswered questions, and I hate being in limbo!!

I was pretty hopeful but now it seems like I may be rejected tbh. kinda sucks oh well.
I’m not sure how they are doing it, but it seems some people received a call to be accepted if you read some earlier posts from this morning. I didn’t reach out, Kari the recruiter called me at home. I was caught off guard, as I was expecting a letter in the mail. I am naturally bummed, since this is the only school I applied to. Plus I’m old, and don’t feel like applying to a bunch of schools, LOL...Best of luck to you !!

I was wondering if you ever heard from the program? I was told I would get an official waitlist letter in the mail, but I haven’t received anything yet. I know the acceptance deadline was May 15 for the accept applicants, and I wasn’t sure if they were waiting until everyone accepted the offer to send them out. I will say being in limbo sucks!! If I don’t hear anything in the next couple of weeks, I’m going to start applying to Thomas Jefferson University’s program. It seems like a similar program to Bethel. I didn’t think I would be so invested, but apparently I wanted this more than I thought I did. Good luck to you !!

I ended up contacting them and they said they mailed me the results but wouldnt say if I got accepted which honestly is an answer of it itself. so when the letter came I already knew I got rejected. I would probably assume if they don't tell you youre accepted or on the waitlist than you probably didn't get in. it kinda sucked but at the end of the day it wasnt meant to be and perhaps something better will come along ?

So, I was waitlisted but haven't heard anything either about being accepted or my waitlist letter being in the mail. IDK if a letter come in mail or not yet because I moved on the 15th and my mail will be on hold for 10 days before it comes to my new address. So we shall see.

It’s so strange because this was weighing on my mind all morning, and this afternoon I received a call that I was accepted !! I have 1 week to decide if I’m going to accept the offer, and until mid June to decide on the 2 or 3 year track!! She said they will put together a financial aid package probably by early next week. I’m super excited and super nervous all at the same time. I’m thinking they waited to send out the waitlist letters until after the acceptance deadline to see how many declined the offer. Like Kari said to me, life happens and people have a couple months to back out even if they accept. Kari is on maternity leave now, and Kasin is covering her, she was also super nice and informative, so if you have any questions she will be great to connect with also!! Fingers crossed for you though!!

Congratulations! That's great news!! Amd yes, I'm keeping my fingers crossed too. Hopefully I just pulled off the waitlist soon.
