Alternate List for ADHPLRP

My recruiter informed me on Monday that due to increased applicants this year the 90 available loan repayments were exhausted immediately and I was being placed on an alternate list. Just curious if anyone else is in this situation currently or if you have been in the past what your results were. Did you eventually get it or not? I was bummed when I heard this but the recruiter informed me last year he had three on that list that were as low as 24 and all eventually got it once funding either came through from the D.O.D. or physician scholarships that weren't used were given to the nurse corps for additional money.

I was told the same thing by my recruiter just yesterday. I have never heard of this before and I am prior service, so anyone with any information on this will help me out as well.

What branch is this for? Also, have you already been accepted or looking to put in a packet?

The Air Force and yes I have been accepted.

AF for me as well and I too have already been accepted.

Did you already sign your contract? If you did, and it is in your contract, then you will receive loan repayment, but if it isn't in your contract and funding has already been exhausted then I would suggest taking the bonus if being offered, and placing your loans on Active Duty deferment until your initial obligation is over. After you initial obligation is over you can re-enlist with whatever incentives are being offered at that time, and try again for loan repayment.

Thank you for that information Raki!

Hang on - It doesn't matter if it's in your contract - within what you signed is a statement saying if the money is exhausted before you get it, you don't get it. If it's not available, you will resign a statement saying it's unavailable at this time, but you will have the opportunity to apply within thirty days of in-processing at your duty station.

The same thing happened to me - and I just got my student loans paid. So keep faith - but DON'T believe that just because it's in your contract you're guaranteed it, because that's simply not the case. What happens is this - the folks that signed contracts saying they'd take it go on the list first - and then as more money comes available, they go down the list.

Yes, my recruiter did tell me that I could be eligible when I got to my duty station. So, how do I re-apply?

If you are eligible for the money, you will be contacted by the folks at Wright-Patterson AFB who run the loan repayment program. They will provide you with the information you need to receive the funds.

It's not really an application - it's license verification and a letter from your commander at your duty station, and you have thirty days once your in-processing is complete to get the forms to Wright-Pat. But they will only contact you if money is available.

So during last fiscal year, you were placed on an alternate list as well? And Wright-Patt then contacted you when you got to your duty station? Also, did they tell you where you were on the list? I have signed for the bonus 4 years 30,000 but if money becomes available for loans my recruiter said that I will have to give 10,000 back and then can get the loan repayment. Is this what happened for you and if so did you have to give back 10,000 of the 30,000 or the percentage of 10,000 that was taxed?

My recruiter informed me on Monday that due to increased applicants this year the 90 available loan repayments were exhausted immediately and I was being placed on an alternate list. .

I received my last loan repayment last year. 49K for 3 years of service, plus my extra pay for being a FNP. I am just finishing my last year in the active duty army.

Here is my advice with hindsight being 20/20. Look into the US Public Health Service. Or look into Indian Health Service. You get 20K for each year you sign for. I did it for my RN. Find a very rural IHS posting and you'll get your loans paid very quickly.

If you don't get your loans guaranteed before you "signup" you'll be screwed.

There is no, "sign up now, and we'll take care of you later" in the Army.

There is a lot of, "We'll get you hooked in now..." then screw you later.
