Actually I read most of the chapters. I needed it all to 'click', so I read it all to get the full understanding of it. Did it take time? Yes. Lots. But I understood the WHY and that was important for me. The teachers normally just highlighted points on the Power Point. The chapters explained in detail the physiology of it.
You will find a method that works for you. Good luck!
It makes it easier when you like what you read I guess....I always did read everything, highlighted it and took notes on what I went over of my own...had a fiend who would read every signle chapted twice......it is a very individual thing....some people do some don't, some absorb quick some don't.....but I never felt it was overwhelming...I guess I liked what I was learning about :)
We read A LOT. O.O
I'm in the two year ADN program and I just started my second year and our first exam is only 7 days (the next monday...) from when we came back. This class Is Medical Surgical Nursing for Adults and Children and the topic we are doing first is Cardio. We covered 9 chapters plus some additional pages on pulmonary embolisms. The chapters in this text are NOT short.... you just do what you can to learn it. [=

I am not yet a nursing student (just a little ole PRE-nursing student) lol. Anyway, I have read many posts about the amount of reading you are required to do in a short amount of time. Are you really able to comprehend all that you read? Seems like you have to really fly through it all just to get it done in time - is it actually soaking in?
I am also wondering how much time you invest over all in just reading chapters?
