All About the NET

Published

since there has been a few people in need of NET help, i will break it down to you guys!

___________

people... you are native americans, it makes it easy for you to do way better that i did... once again HERE IT GOES HOW TO REALLY DO GREAT ON YOUR NET TEST.

EASY NET in 6 STEPS

1 you have to have some time to study, allow your self about 2 hours a day (i was able to learn all the subjects and study on my own and at work!!!) you have to sacrifice whatever it is but make it 2-3 holy hours per day no matter what! (for about 10 days)

2 go to www.testprepreview.com and download and print their NET nurse entrance test, youll find it on the left hand side. then once you have it, you print it about 10 copies and staple 10 sets, they will be your everyday practice sets. now that you have done that, you will go to http://www.midland.edu/~hsd/pdf/8-NET_Test.pdf and do the exact same thing, make 10 copies and staple the sets, this is another GREAT EXCELENT exam and both of them are lets say 99% of what you need to know to score at least a 85 on your net and I GUARANTEE IT!.

3your studying schedule, first of all you are going to take the first test either one you choose, and you will solve it, take your time, try to understand, come online and post (lets ask for a sticky on this only for the net thread Huh? please all nurses!!!) well you will answer all the questions you can, and do not check yet to verify your answers, once you finish all the questions you know, you will then verify those answers, then whatever you could not solve, just come here and post the number of the questions and whether it is from plato or test prep, that i will step by step answer it and assist you.

you will then get the next NET and solve it also...and again, once you have doubts post them here and i will help you.

After doing that for 5 days, you on the weekend will go to discovery.com or any other science website and you will read about 3-5 articles, just so you can update, improve, sharpen your infra-reading skills, do dot skip this step, do that on the weekend so you can take a break on your studies and prepare for the second week.

On your second week you will start timing your self, you will give your self 1 minute per question, so total it like 60 minutes for 60 math questions! and time your self on the english part also, wich actually is the most time consuming questions.

4 it is getting close for you to take the NET and you have about 3-4 days prior to it, so now you will do this technique that i call compilation, you will add all the math questions from both tests and you will solve them back to back, as many as you can, when you need a break take a quick one, but make it your goal to solve all of them!!! and by this time you should be getting at least 90% of them right!! once you are done with that, you will just answer 15 random questions on the english part.

On the day after you will invert, you will then solve all the english part, (again, as many as you can with no breaks, then once you need one do not hesitate but do not loose your "studystamina" wich i call concentration) done with that, you shall then answer 15 math question, try getting those ones that gives you a hard time and you often miss them, please try timing your self be generous, give your self 19 minutes for them.

Again repeat the step 4 on the next day.

5 It is now 2 days before the test, and at this day you will not study, you will not drill, you will only make sure, that you have no doubts and all your math and words are sharp, posting doubts, and making sure you are up to par!

On the day before your test you will do this, you will give yourself 1 hour on the clock to solve 30 math questions, and 30 english in the morning, and repeat that at night, just to wrap it all up.

6 it is NET DAY, today you will not freak out because you are prepared, you solved your problems, you found the meaning and main ideas of the paregraphs, and you are doing just awesome not it is time to show it to your self.

Taking the NET:

you might start with a essay sometimes that is not required, if not you will go to MATH, you are going to start solving your test, 100% concentration right here, if you stumble uppon a question that you might be having a tiny bit of trouble with it just skip it, dont guess, and go to the next one, so by the end of the test you saved your self plenty of time to solve those 5-6 questions that you were having trouble with, now just press the button on the computer (of course if it is computer based version) "uncheck questions only" and the system will only display the ones you left for last, doing so you will save time on the easy ones, and have actualy more then 1 minute per remaining questions.

Now when it comes to the english portion i recomend you glance-read the paragraf, take a peek at the question and then you can go back to the paragraph and choose the right answer, they are not long paragraphs, often 200 hundred words...

AND NOW YOU ARE DONE

great job!

just follow this and you will be great and at least score a minimum of a composite 85.... i got a 92!

and that will not guarantee your admission... but it will have a great weight and consideration

Please moderators, can you make this a sticky note?

Hi everyone. Like others, I am struggling w/my fears about passing this test. I do have access to the study guide and I was planning to pay for access to the practice test. However, when I went to the website that Carlos referred us to, it appeared as though the math question format is very different f/the study guide. Are the test questions really word problems? According to one website, you will also be doing some graphing and line plotting, but there are no examples in the study guide. Is this misleading? I AM FEELING PANICKED. The deadline for me to test is this Friday since my application has to be in by Monday. Please help. Thanks.

Hello, CSantos!

How you get ready for your nursing program? Iid you get your vaccines/? Do you have to buy a bunch of books? :)

The best advise for test takers--read what CSantos tels you to do. You have to get used to popular scientific literature. That is what you will get on reading part.

To RCastro: when I took second time test, the test WAS THE SAME including math and reading section. Now you have an advantage you know what will be on a test. Aknowledge mistakes made and go over your them.

I got my vaccines done all at once since I needed them for immigration purposes.

Books, are just crazzy, mad expensive, i habe been using www.chegg.com where you can actualy rent the book, which comes out way cheaper.

Like I said guys, if you do not have experience test taking, use my steps, I developed them during the process of my NET preparation, since Ihave never taken any test like that, I wanted to take notes, and research the best way for me to score good on it.

Since i have't studied math for 7 years, and English is my second language (anymore i consider it first) i had to find a way to wrap it up, learn all this things, all by my self so i could do well on the test.

The test is weasy, not complicated at all, but you have to prepare your self for it, all you need is about 2 weeks, and you can do great!

try going to DHC (discovery health channel) website and read some of their articles, just as an exemple :

On my reading we had 2 texes one about mamals/hibernation

and another was aligator behavior related. so you have to be sort of familiar with terms and things like that.

DON'T BE SCARED OFF BY THE ENGLISH PORTION all you need to do is concentrate on your test, be able to analyse it (try not to deviate your train of though from it, it taks so much time to go back to the test!!!) try to absorb and comprehend the important keys of the test, and if necessary go back and check the details!

:yeah:

sorry, have not taken the HOBET, maybe someone else would be kind enough to create a HOBET walk through??

i sure hope so!!! lets help each other guys, huh?

Csantos, thank you for your support. I have been hitting various online articles. Still, I wish you could take my test for me! ^___^

Thanks, Csantos for advise about rent the books. Can you , please, tell me more about that. I never thought about renting textbooks, but if we consider that publishers reprint any other year books just only adding a couple of pages, it is really a bad idea to buy books and spent hundreds of dollars on them. As English is a second language for you , I can advise you to consider Franklin electronic speaking dictionary (Merriam-Webster's collegiate Dictionary) It is just wonderful. I was carrying it throughout my college. You can consider models isbn 9781590744185 or ISBN 1590741749 Also, they have a thesaurus part which I used a lot. I bought them around 40 at ebay.

I'm right know in process looking for the books. Therefore, i will be considering to rent some books. I need more information on that.

Hello everyone. I am about to take the NET on Thursday, and I am really nervous. I was just gonna ask CSantos if there are word problems on the Math section? How about the Reading part, how was it? I would really like to get into the January program and I am getting stressed, please help!! I did go to testpreview. com and printed all the test practice and as well as on the other websites. Right now I am reading articles on Discovery. com as CSantos adviced...

Thanks CSantos! I am going to retake the test. I actually got a good friend that is great in math to tutor me. Plus I am printing out the 2 different practice test and timing myself. I want to be a nurse so bad and i let time slip away all these years........i have to pass this test.:specs:

I did pretty well on my english proficiency test, and living in the us for 4 years now, i am sort of americanized LOL!!!

I did though downloaded the Merriam-Webster's collegiate Dictionary for my iphone, so whenever i bump into something weird i check it out!

about chegg, i rent my books from them and it is actualy great since i have 1 class per month, i rent it for summer rates (short term 2 months rental)

and i return them within 30 days, it ends up costing me like 25 dollars for the book, but who needs it for a whole semester pays like 80...

just check them out at www.chegg.com and you can actually see what they have available... it might not be the best choice for everyone, but it sure saved me a whole bunch of money!

Ok, here we go...

On the math there are no word problems, maybe 1 problem on ratio, but nothing hard, the algebra is pretty easy

if you can go to the websites that i have listed on section 2 of my steps and solve those problems, i can asure that you do excelent on math

just as a reminder:

"2 go to www.testprepreview.com and download and print their NET nurse entrance test, youll find it on the left hand side. then once you have it, you print it about 10 copies and staple 10 sets, they will be your everyday practice sets. now that you have done that, you will go to http://www.midland.edu/~hsd/pdf/8-NET_Test.pdf and do the exact same thing, make 10 copies and staple the sets, this is another GREAT EXCELENT exam and both of them are lets say 99% of what you need to know to score at least a 85 on your net and I GUARANTEE IT!."

regarding the reading questions, its 100% critical thinking, they get a stupid scientific related or some sort of study/research related test, that is not interesting at all, and they have you read it (try to concentrate since the material is so stupid it is easy to loose your focus)....

the reading part is 50% concentration 25% critical thinking 25% logic and vocabulary!

just pay attention, concentrate and you will do awesome! :D

you just have to want it and you can do it, it is not hard, might be scary, but it is plain and simple!

way easier than high school, when I actually took it, i felt retardard  even though i was outta school for so long, and had to teach my self basic algebra on my own...

once everything was over i sort of thought... this is so 3rd grade!:jester:

Thanks to everyone for all of your great insight! I have been studying and prepping from here and various web sites. I also got the Kaplan test review book from the library. The reading comp is still tripping me up because I am inclined to overthink and overcomplicate it.

My NET is scheduled for Friday at 8:00am and I'm feeling ready. I'll let everyone know how I have done....

The HESI was also sold... and i know the new name for it will be REACH

now, it is a matter of waiting until it comes out and some people can give us feed back on it!

but this thread will only last until DECEBER

I am proud of preparing the material for you guys, and Every phone call that you guys made to me asking question was/is a pleasure to answer, every PM and questions just makes me feel great that I can actualy help someone.

Again I just want to thank/congratulate you all, for making through the NET and would like to let you know that I hope someday you can also help someone study for tests!!!

I will still be here at this thread until december/january "dead line for the NET"

and definately encourage some one to take their time and prepare a little something to share as i did!

you guys rock!!!!

NOW LETS KEEP ON PASSING IT OK????
