I was just wondering if there were any Practical Nurse students out there writing the licensing exam next week - in Alberta. Any thoughts or ideas, suggestions on how to study. Any second-timers that can offer advice?
Just curious as I am writing in Edmonton next week and have been trying to get myself prepared, through it and finally done with school!!

Well I once lived in Calgary and did the LPN exam about 5years(long time) but back then I justs studied using the Nlcex-pn books and I found the exam to be a bit easy after using that book and all it had was just practice questions, but I now live in the states and am now an RN,good luck with your exam you will do fine.

I'm an RN now, but took the PN liscensure exam about 12 yrs. ago. I agree with the previous comment that the NCLEX-PN is the best resource for a great comprehensive study tool. I refreshes everything. The most important thing is to stay calm. If you don't know it by now, you won't. You'll be fine though. Don't take too long on each question debating it unless you really need to. Rely on your nursing experience, limited as it may be, it will be helpful.

You are not an LPN writing the exam, you are a Graduate Practical Nurse.
Take care of the technicalities and you will be fine.
Did you get a copy of the CPNRE booklet?
NCLEX-PN is not the definitive book to use. The questions are not lab values but much more critical thinking, moral question. Know your IV fluids and be prepared for anything from your course work.
The year I wrote there was a lot on Peds and IVs, then from more recent grads I've heard it was Med-Surg. There is always community stuff. And the infamous how would you handle the following situation ranging from being asked for personal favours to teaching testicular exam techniques.
