Air Force Nursing

I'm a senior nursing student and I'm applying to be a nurse in the Air Force. I've met with a recruiter and got the "glorified" speech of how great it will be.I want to know the real deal from actual Air Force nurses, any feedback? or advice?? Thanks!! -Lauren

    Lauren, I hope that you've had a chance to look around this forum (gov/military) and have gotten some more information that you were looking for. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. There are some Active Duty folks on here that have been on here since they applied, plenty of people that have been accepted and commissioned and are waiting to go to COT, and some Reservists that are in various stages of their careers as well. You can get a pretty good picture just by reading some of the old posts on here, but if you have specific questions or need clarification, feel free to ask away!

    Good luck, and just realize now that it is a long, slow, drawn out process to get into the Air Force as a nurse...but it's well worth it in my opinion.

    I just completed COT in November and was an RN in the civilian world for just about two years, so I didn't have to go to NTP. I am on the adult BMT unit at Wilford Hall Medical Center, a Level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital for the USAF on Lackland AFB, Texas. I am also prior service Air Force.

    Coming back into the military was the smartest move I ever made.
