Hey! FQ Clinical Nurse hopeful here. Board meets Sept 23rd, and results (let's hope this stays true) estimated to come out on Oct 11th. 3 more weeks!!! Been looking at TFOT dates and if I do get in (heavy breathing) I'm hoping to go to the one in May mainly because doing PT out in the Alabama heat in the middle of summer.... oof.
FQ quotas for FY20:
46N3 Clinical Nurse (43)46N3E Critical Care (28)46N3F NICU (4)46N3G Obstetrical Nurse (8)46N3J Emergency Dept Nurse (17)46P Mental Health Nurse (5)46S3 Operating Room Nurse (8)46Y3A WHNP (2)46Y3B PNP (2)46Y3G Midwife (2)46Y3H FNP (5)46Y3M CRNA (2)46Y3P Psychiatric Mental Health NP (2)

Hi MasalaC, yep! Three weeks too long lol, but yeah really hoping we get in?? Just focused on preparing for PFT now. There’s a pretty good chance for you given that there’s 43 46N3 positions open, I’m applying for Mental Health which is only five so really closing my fingers until then?
Do you happen to know when is the earliest we can leave for COT if given the chance?
Not sure if the screenshot below will show up, but here are the remaining 5 week TFOT (formerly COT) classes for '19, as well as '20 (if pic doesn't show up, scroll down to the schedule here?
It can take 3-6 months to obtain congressional approval/receive our scroll from the time we get our acceptance and this has to be done before we can go to COT. So I say the earliest if possible (ya never know) is March 31 2020, but most likely May 5th seems to be the earliest since it seems more people from the Oct board seem to get placed in the May-July classes of the following year. I'm really hoping to get assigned to the May class if selected!
But you're also applying for Clinical right?
Board meets today!! Good luck y'all!!!
Also, seems like we can either be placed in the 5 weeks abbreviated or 8 weeks full TFOT next year, depends on availability but they are actively trying to place people in the 8 weeks course. Either way, ~3 more weeks til the "estimated release date"!!!

I just got dates for a few weeks from now!! have any of you heard of nurses going to the 8 week class? that seems to be the one I'm signed up for currently. just wondering if any of you have any knowledge of that... thanks ! and good luck guys!

Are you guys all applying to the Reserves or Active Duty. I applied active duty but now having second thoughts, would prefer to be in the reserves
@usafRN2018 You were scheduled for the 8 weeks? As a reserve nurse? Whoa, thought y'all had a super abbreviated training that's like 10 days? I guess we should expect to be sent to the 8 weeks course then... someone mentioned on FB there was a handful of nurses in their 8 week TFOT class.
@softenny AD. I heard it was much harder going from reserves to active than the other way around. I say wait til results comes out and then you might change your mind!
@MasalaC I guess I'll find out soon but I really don't want to go AD anymore because of some commitment with my kids
@softenny Im Reserves. considered AD but with Family close by and being close to a reserve unit that offers what I want I jumped in for Reserves. We have had several people go active from our Unit as well as some come from Active duty so its just all about what works best for you and your family situation.
@MasalaC Yes! that the class ID and time frame! I was a little surprised too! so just be prepared for either. From what I was reading and found last night... Medical Officers, JAGs, and Chaplains all still qualify for the abbreviated course but ANYONE can go to the Full 8 week OTS class
It's OCTOBER guys! How's everyone doing? Did anyone get an update? Can't believe it next week already! Hope we hear soon!?
YES!!! HAPPY OCTOBER EVERYONE!!! :')
I've been keeping my mind off the boards w/ swimming and working out. No update on my end, I texted my recruiter if she knows anything about the # of applicants who applied, and surprise surprise no reply. I plan on bugging her Oct 11 about results lol
SOON!!
