Air Force March 2014 COT

Published

This is a forum for sharing information related to commissioned officer training (COT) for the United States Air Force. It starts March 3, 2014 at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama. I found out today that I was accepted. I will be stationed at joint base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.

DEL1VRD,

It is a little strange that it seems like everyone else has taken their Oath, but I think very few of us have gotten orders. Has you recruiter said anything about taking your Oath? I would be pushy with your recruiter and find out exactly what is going on. If you can't get answers from him/her find out who is their supervisor and take it up their chain of command.

I can sympathize with you about the rank issue....I swore in as a Captain and now I will have to be a 1st LT for about 10.5 months. That was extremely frustrating, but it is what it is. With all the cut backs that are going on right now who knows what is next. I have not gotten my orders either but with all those changes they had to make to the commission documents they just submitted them again a week ago.

No orders yet. I am a bit worried, I need a month to handle business...and get things re-routed...so I am going to hope that I hear something soon as in next week

did you do a congressional and IG this??

Got orders today!! Excited to get set up with base housing and TMO!!

Keeping my fingers crossed...still no oath and no orders. Let me know how your experience with TMO goes ;-)

Got my orders Friday! What a relief! I am sure we will all see our orders this week

I went to Maxwell yesterday and purchased most of the items on the uniform checklist. I spent about $1000 on uniforms and alterations. I did not purchase the Mess dress. I figured I would wait and see if we need it. It took me about 3 hours to pick everything out.

Being on Maxwell and trying on uniforms definitely made this REAL! I saw a lot of OTS students at clothing sales and we went by the parade grounds and the OTS campus.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get your first duty station changed? Is it something you can ask for before signing the contract?

My understanding is that it's 'take it or leave it.' They have alternates who would be happy with any station. Plus, what are you going to do in 3-5 years if you get transferred to another base you don't like?

Ok thanks, I was just wondering. I wanted to know my chances of going overseas to places like Germany. I guess I'll have to wait and see ;-)

If I were to go to a base other than Maxwell to try to buy uniforms before training, would I need to apply for an inactive reserves ID card?
