Ain't nobody got time for DEBT! (paying for nursing school)

Published

Hello,

I am currently arranging to start my pre-reqs at national university for their accelerated second degree bsn program. I have previous debt already from my first degree. Does anybody know about any programs, scholarships, internships, etc... that will help pay for nursing school. I have heard about hospitals paying for nursing school, are any hospitals in san diego doing this? Im also starting cna school next month, so I am going to work and gain experience for about 8 months while in school then determine if I can obtain a job and go to nursing school simultaneously. HELP PLEASE!!!

Thanks a million and one...

Look on the local hospital websites and in their job postings for scholarship opportunities. Most hospitals that do this require you to work for them 6 months for each semester of school they pay for, or some similar program.

Check with you school's financial aid office and nursing program about specific scholarships.

Two possibilities:

UCSD Medical Center, for new grads: Opportunities for New Nursing Graduates | UC San Diego Health System

Sharp, for full time employees: Education Reimbursement

There is the military route.

We're not in your geographical area, but Baptist Hospital in Memphis has a program that pays off or forgives the student's loan in return for a 2 year commitment. It's a BSN program.

There is the military route.

Right now there isn't, Army is accepting 10 applicants nationwide this year for standard entry and the AECP is just as competitive.

People always say go military as if it's a last option, they are full up and even cutting.

I am actually volunteer at sharp, I am pretty sure this doesn't apply to us though.

There was a perfect program the military had for people transitioning into the nursing field but they cancelled it this year. It seems to be alot of programs are being cut, and alot of programs are going unrecognized.
