Aiken Tech ADN hopefuls spring 2016

Anyone else applying in September for the spring ADN program at Aiken tech?

Oh goodness...im dying over here. I was hoping they'd say oh we mailed letters yesterday lol-I know wishful thinking.

You are too funny, girl! From the sounds of things, I seems like they are pretty overwhelmed with applications - as I imagine they are every term. The lady said they have been preparing for a while but it still gets a little chaotic... Gotta give it to them though, I'd hate to be the one sorting through all those applications. It makes waiting seem easy!

Well there were several other programs that just had an app deadline along with the ADN program. EMT, Paramedic, LPN completion, LPN, and ADN both just ended an application period. Are any of you going to advise with your current advisors to hAve a backup plan? I'm unsure what to do.

With all those programs being Allied Health, I can imagine they are going to be a little overwhelmed but I trust they have a method to the madness!

I've never spoken to an adviser but my plan is hopefully get accepted into an RN program with a back up of going into LPN and bridging over to RN and then bridging again to BSN.

How bout you?

For this semester I only applied to Atc, but if I don't get in ill be applying for fall a few different places. Cpaschal I know what you mean about different schools standards. Some school requires different prereqs so when applying its a pain. Sweetsummertime I am driving from Hephzibah also! I've been going to atc for 3 semesters so the drive isnt too bad, but the gas is what sucks lol. I hope we all get in! Maybe we will get luck at they will be done and sent envelopes before the end of the month! I have an 18 month old son who usually keeps me busy.

If I do not get into either program I'll meet with my advisor to see what options I have.

Oh yes. That gas is definitely going to be a pain but if you've been doing it, than I should have nothing to worry about! (Sometimes my nerves get the best of me) I also have a young son - he'll be two at the end of the year. I can definitely relate to staying busy.

That's a great plan! You should still have plenty of time to apply to GRU or Augusta tech if not accepted. That's my plan too! But I'm going to stay optimistic and hope we all get in :)

Luckily I have so much going on this month so I hope it just flies by! I really feel like maybe we will get letters the last week of this month. Last spring app window letters were mailed out on the 27th and people got them the 31st. I would hope and think maybe they will go out around the same time. There is a long list of things we have to do prior to starting so we would need plenty of time.

You guys being in the same area could maybe carpool to help with gas. Im.in Beech Island so I'm not near either of you. I hope we all get in and I can put a face to names soon :)

There is a lot to do. But I think you are right about the time frame, cpaschal.

Do you guys know what kind of supplies will be required? Stethoscope, pen light, bandage scissors, etc..? (Just curious)

albinoc, what kind of resources did you use for childcare on the days you went to class?

I know for sure other than books, scrubs, shoes, lab coat. You need a stethoscope, pen light, bandage scissors, and I'm not 100 % on blood pressure cuff

Oh thats true, after orientation maybe we all could get together and see where everyone is from and have carpools, for those with a longer drive.

My husband was able to watch him except for 1 semester. I have family here who are to babysit luckily.

If we all get in- what are yalls opinion on stethescope. Are you going to go with a cheaper option or get a Littman. I'm trying to decide. Most of my research points to the Littman Classic lll.

That sounds great to me, albinoc! I have some family but I'm hoping that I can coordinate between my hubs and family so I don't have to use a daycare.

Cpaschal, I am stethoscope illiterate! But I will say that the Littman Classic III seems like a popular one from what I gather.
