Ahhhhhh....a good night...makes it all worth it...

Hi everyone,

I thought for once in my life, I would actually write something positive..LOL.... It seems that everyone has been venting quite a bit lately..my self included.. So..I thought I would pop in to say that I had a wonderful night lastnight. I only had five patients, which is a blessing in itself. The five that I did have were kind, polite , and appreciative....how wonderful is that??? I find...if the night starts out bad..the whole thing will be bad...but lastnight started out good and stayed good. No admits..the ER doc was able to sleep all night. We have zero influenza patients at the moment..which is nice because you don't have to get dressed up in all that isolation garb. I was actually able to spend time with my patients and for once..I actually felt like a real nurse. Ok..I'm off to bed..just wanted to share. Ohh sure...now that I have said everything is peachy....I'll probably go back tonight to find pure hell...LOL...hey..lastnight was even a full moon..wasn't it??? Wow...super good for a full moon night..LOL..Ok..take care everyone...luv ya...:kiss

That's terrific! I had a good day yesterday. I got floated to the geri unit. They have a LOT less treatments and meds than they do on my unit so I had time to feed patients their lunch and even have a conversation with a few! Made me feel like a real nurse for once as well!

Isn't it wonderful? Don't you wish you could bottle a little of nights like this to bring out when we have those "other" kinds of shifts? :)

Good for you. I had a great night last night as well. Started horrific in the ER, young guy with massive injuries from MVA, psych pts from h&ll, but then went smooth after that. I even had a patient tell me "you were the best part of my day today" ahhh!!! I have been so bitter and burnt lately but last night I actually felt better about my position than I had in a long time.
