Children observe us and hopefully, we provide a positive example. As the child pays attention to our every move, our seemingly innocuous "little white lie" can backfire. So, we instill the old adage: Honesty is the best policy. As a nurse, what positive example has your child picked up from you?

My brilliant son had checked his symptoms in one of my nursing books before coming to tell us he had a problem. At the ER he refused to allow the ER nurses start his IV's, Told them he wanted mom and dad to start the IV's.

THAT is one smart guy! Man he'd have been a good nurse!

He sure would have been! He is one heck of a cattle farmer now, and engaged to a future great nurse so I guess I can forgive him for not going into nursing.

These stories are too great! Gosh, I hope my kids take after me and pick up my love of medicine! :geek:

How about FERPA violation. Too cute!!

When my 9 daughter informed our family Dr that when I'm not home she gives her dad his "butt needle" (IM testosterone) and she adds "before you ask..yes I remember to always draw back to check for blood"

Or when my daughter (8 at the time) came running in from playing outside with friends to tell me that her friend hurt himself. Silly me thought she wanted me to go and check the kid out. Nope. She just came in to grab gloves, NS, proviodine, gauze, king and tape.
