Having worked in a SNF for 25 years I came to the conclusion that natural aging while not necessarily a disease can be a brutal unforgiving process. Many elder's that passed under my care had no definitive cause of death other than as one of our providers liked to name it "terminal old age."  Watching what some of these elders endure prior to their eventual death definitely brought me to the belief that in life it's quality, not quantity that should be held important.
