Of the 23 other students comprising the group that I entered nursing school with, three of them are men. The class that is graduating at the end of next week I believe has 1 male student, and as far as I know the class immediately behind mine has 1 as well. This is about 60 students (some classes have had students drop), with 6 of them being males; that's only 1 in 10.
So we know that male nurses are few and far between, but how old are we?
The 1 student in the class graduating next week is 28.
The 1 student in the class that entered the semester after mine is at least 30 (a second career-er I believe).
Of the 4 in my class, 2 are about 45, 1 is 40, and then there is me...21.
How old are you guys? How old when you started school?
Just curious.

28 when I started prereqs for an Accelerated BSN, now 31 and hopefully starting the 2 year program this fall.
Starting the RN program this August and I'm 50 y/o. Retired from Fire Rescue after 22 years and currently working in the ED as a paramedic as well as a few shifts each month as an EKG technician in PCU. Currently taking the required 'Pharmacology for Nursing' course and there are 2 males in the class with me and a total of 30 students. RN program accepts total of 90 students for the full time course starting in August.

I'm 40. Was a corpsman in the Navy, orthopedic tech after honorable discharge, finished a degree in Information Technology and changed careers... hated IT; now half way finished with my BSN. I should have never left the medical field
