  1. Don't beat yourself up over it. I did some not-so-nurse-like things back in the day too. We all make mistakes. I'm sure everything will be okay. Just embrace the fact that you are a better person now with a bright future ahead of you! :)
  2. Brushing up on anatomy would help, but to be honest, I'd forgotten a lot of things I learned from pre-reqs but I am doing ok! (first semester student) One thing I would defintely recommend (and wish I did from the start) is getting various NCLEX review books w/CD questions. You can search amazon and see which has the best reviews from students and purchase those! The ones I have are Prentice Hall, Saunders, and Fundamentals Success. I found nursing exams to be very different than what I was used to.. just studying the reading material wasn't enough for me. Before an exam I do a bunch of practice questions and read the rationals and understand the reasoning behind the correct answers. I think that will help you the most as you start nursing school and get acclimated to the exams. My grades went from C's in the beginning, and now I'm Acing the exams! Good luck! Otherwise...enjoy your freedom now because nursing school will take over your life.
  3. No offense, but if you can not pass the TEAS then you are probably not ready for nursing school. I would suggest you take a year or two to take all the required pre-reqs (at a CC) such as chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and microbiology. That will give you a good science background in order to pass the exam. It is not that difficult if you are prepared and have taken pre-reqs.
  4. I had to do something similar at my work so they could accomodate my school schedule. I decided to be honest with them and had a "talk" with my boss. Pretty much told them something along the lines of, "I love working for this company and I plan to continue to work here for the next 2-3 years while I finish school, however I need some accommodation in my schedule during my fall and spring semesters." They appreciated my honesty and everything went okay. My situation might be a little different though, because they knew I was a college student from the start. :) Good luck.
  5. 23 here... starting ADN program this fall. Very excited / nervous!!!
  6. I have trouble focusing and concentrating as well. Ritalin works wonders
  7. Thanks. Do you only get one attempt to pass?
  8. I take my teas on Friday and I am super nervous!! Did you use the ATI book to study? Is there anything in the science or math that wasn't covered in the book? Any tips on what to focus on?? Also, was it the paper/pencil version or on the computers? Do you only get one attempt to pass? Any info would be great!! thanks!
  9. Haha no problem. Took me a while to figure out it was a G. Mines May 11th!
  10. I had trouble with the website as well, until I discovered the last letter is a G not a Q http://173.201.15.141/ExamReg
  11. I got a letter yesterday!!!!! Does anyone know what the additional requirements are for admittance besides passing the Teas V?
  12. Hey guys... I applied to Humboldt State for Fall 2010 hoping to get in their nursing program. I have only applied to the university and not submitted any supplemental application to the Nursing Dept yet. However, today I got a letter from them saying "Humboldt State is pleased to offer you admission for the fall 2010 semester as a resident of California. This offer of admission of provisional. You have been admitted based on the information you supplied on your application for admission... " On top it says my major is Pre-Nursing. So does this mean that I got accepted to their Nursing program for a BSN? I am just confused because it seemed pretty weird that they sent me this before I sent my supplemental nursing app. Anyone else got one of these?
  13. I applied to SFSU, SDSU, long beach, humboldt state, and chico
  14. No, I'm not a native SFSU student. I actually live in socal. But if I get A's in the rest of my classes my prereq GPA will be about 3.75ish. So I thought it'd be worth a shot.. even though I probably won't be one of the 80 people considering my lack of volunteer and community experience. I applied to 4 other CSUs too, but SFSU is my first choice. congrats on Bakersfield! And I would love your SFSU spot! :bowingpur
  15. Thanks! Although I don't really have high hopes of getting in for '10. My GPA is average (3.5 for my prereqs so far) Anat & Micro are still in progress. Taking physio next semester. And I don't have much volunteer experience (I did about 20 hours for one month at a hospital). I also don't have any multi-cultural community experience
