Age-slapped in the face!

Published

This is not really a joke, just something funny to me. I was driving to the post office the other day, and went to make a left hand turn, but stopped because an old couple was in the crosswalk. Some jerk behind me cut around and tried to turn left from the right hand lane and pass me. He slammed on the brakes, narrowly avoiding the old couple. I looked over and saw some old bald guy with a grey beard, since both our windows were down I yelled "Nice move gramps, almost killed someone!"

The guy in the van, just looked at me funny. After driving away I realized that I am also bald, also have a grey beard, and that he was probably the same age as me. Age-slapped in the face! When the Hell did I get old?

Cheers

I call people ma'am as respect. I know you can use miss for younger women, but that has always struck me as disrespectful, but that's probably because of all the times I was called "little missy," at the beginning of being berated for something. So for me it's ma'm if you're 19 or 99.

My husband is ex military is is always saying "Hello Sir" or "Thank you Ma'am" no matter what the age of the person. So I am pretty used to it, and see it as respect and not necessarily being called "old"!

I got my first senior citizen discount around age 56 years old at a D'angelos, stopping for lunch when I was working for the VNA, without asking. I had one hell of a morning so I must have looked it that afternoon! I saved the lunch ticket slip. Now I'm 67 yo and am proud to have earned Medicare, a 401K, , getting senior discounts, living simply, and finally retired after 45 + years as a RN.

Here in the deeeep south, everyone says ma'am and sir~ has nothing to do with age.
