Hello All!
I am currently a AGACNP and looking for a job in one of the local ERs. The minor problem I have found is that because I am not an FNP, who's course had specific material related to pediatrics and women's health, I am having a bit of a hard time securing a job. I have been an ER nurse for over 15 years. Is there anyone else out there with a similar dilemma, or has dealt with a similar situation? Will I have to go back to school to obtain FNP specific courses? The ER with whom I am applying is certainly comfortable with my skills in evaluating and treating pediatric and women's health issues. Can someone help me out with some information? Thank in advance

Where are you located? Curious about use of FNP's within the inpatient side.

AGACNP cares for pts ages 13 and up correct?
What about getting a Peds ACNP?
As to FNP - ER is not inpt but rather outpt care. It is considered acute outpt care vs primary outpt care.
In my area, FNPs work in ER. I have also worked in ER as an APRN and I am both an adult and peds CNS. In IL, CNS=NP as to scope of practice and prescriptive authority.

Do acute care pedi np if you want to stick to the acute care side, however, you can also do fnp, fnp you are trained only to do outpatient/primary care pediatrics, not inpatient pedi.
Thank you Commuter- I am encumbered with limitations from the mobile AN App. Could not look up location.
Bakersfield Ca. Some acnps are finding a bit of a hard time getting in with er's cuz of
some loop hole in training. Most are taking FNP.
