After Passing Nclex What's Next????

Published

Hi everyone. I just passed the NCLEX. I applied at Cali Nursing Board and received a letter saying that I would need an SSN before the issuance of my license. How can I apply for an SSN when I am in the Philippines? How long before an SSN be given to an applicant? I don't really intend to apply in some agencies here. I would like to try it on my own by applying direct. Can anyone help me with this concern? Thanks and God bless us all.

Welcome

Ca will not give you a license without SSN and you will not get that until in the US on a valid work visa, which currently with retrogression you are looking at several years (going with an agency will make no difference)

I suggest a good read in this forum as much has already been written on California and SSN and retrogression

I appreciate your quick reply. What if I apply for a visa screen and after getting the certificate I go to US on a tourist visa, can I apply for my SSN in Cali and be granted with one? Thanks again.

No you can not get a SSN with a tourist visa you need a valid work visa to get a SSN. Visa screen will not help you in get a SSN. The search facility is easy to use and I suggest you have a read on California as this has been discussed several times

Do you believe that you're the only one who's tried this? Keep reading and you will see how many people have the same idea that you have and also Silverdragon has just stated the reason why it's not going to happen. She's already given you a suggestion to read up on this board. I suggest you do the same. Also, the key word you just wrote is "tourist visa"! That's for tourists, which means you can enter the country to visit. It doesn't give you the right to work here, and it doesn't give you the option of adjusting your status once you're here on a tourist visa. Suzanne has mentioned this time and time again, and please take the time to read the stickies that Suzanne has so kindly posted at the top of this forum. This will answer a lot of your questions.

Hi subaralady. First I would like to say congratulations for passing the NCLEX-RN. It's another step forward. I would like to make it clear that you have to obtain an ssn for the board to issue you the license. Because of the retrogression at set, one will find it very hard and almost impossible to secure one. However, I have heard of some applicants who were able to find some remedies to this problem. Some had endorsed their NCLEX to states that doesn't require SSN to obtain initial licensure or the like. I strongly suggest you to read more on threads pertaining to NCLEX, LICENSURE in California. I'm sure you'll find great answers to your questions.

Godbless and goodluck in your life's journey.

Thank you for that information. I am new member to this site. I haven't read much about the different posts here. I am sure there had been a lot of posts regarding this concern of mine but I haven't really explored this site and learn how to navigate it. Pardon my ignorance. I still thank you for being patient enough to answer this and not ridicule me like the previous ones who had replied. May God bless you in your life's journey and may all your wishes come true.

It is ok subarulady. I dont think it's about being ignorant,. The fact that you are newbie in this forum, it is quite understandable and there is no need to let someone feel like he/she is ignorant of the matter. You just have to consider that it is such a priveledge for you to have joined in such a forum like this, but by joining here, you must also be prepare to meet and encounter people who tries to ridicule and set your spirit down. This I really couldn't understand why, but it's happening. Maybe some people out there were born too smart, and is playing like they are great somebody.

Anyhow, again congratulations. May not completely answer your question, but after passing the NCLEX, I know you are one step closer to what you dream. Goodluck and enjoy navigating.:yeah::yeah::yeah:

hi i went here in US thru fiance visa and now i am working with getting my working permit and SSN... after i got my SSN what do i do next? i have the form from department of consumer affairs that when i recieve my SSN i have to provide my SSN to the board of registed nursing within three years.... my question about this is... am i going to mail this form with my SSN to the board of registed nursing? or i can apply it online... and if i do so will they give me a confirmation that they got my SSN number already? thank you so much....

When someone request's your social security card they usually ask for the hard copy of the card. I would make a copy and write a letter. Once they receive your license and straighten out your visa you can apply for a job. Congrats on your marriage!
