  1. I applied and was assessed by the Nurses Board of Victoria and they are asking me to take a 3 months course and will be a legit nurse in Victoria after finishing it. I applied online for that pre-registration course at Deakin University at Burwood, Melnourne and was got a letter of offer. I am now applying for a student visa as course willstart Jan. It will take max 2 months for that. After finishing the course, I can already apply direct for jobs there. Once I get an employer, i will need to convert the visa from student to a working one. Of course you would need to pay fees. I will have to pay $9,300 for the short course. I will be staying with my pinay friends so accomodation is not much of a worry. Lots of houses you can share there with someone. Rental is from $100 -$200 a week inclusive of everything. Lots of pinoys there willing to help pinoy starters. YOu just need to check where they are. Good luck to your journey and may God bless us all.
  2. You can find most big hospitals in the city. If you want to work outskirt then East of Melbourne is nice. You would find big hospitals there too. I love it there as it is scenic. I enjoyed Olinda as you would see the whole CBD from there. City is fast paced and the outskirts are pretty fun if you enjoy nature. Good luck to you stay there. I miss it there.
  3. I would personally prefer Melbourne among other states in Aus. It's the sports capital and people there are more congenial , I reckon. Have you been assessed by the nursing board there? Which state? Good luck to you.
  4. I had worked in East of Melbourne in one of the nursing homes there. You can try looking at http://www.share-house.com.au/melbourne . Are you a Filipina? I can help you contact some friends there who can help y ou find a house with pinays to share the house with too. Which part of Melbourne are you going to stay? Are you going to work there as a nurse? Goodluck.
  5. Thank you for that information. I am new member to this site. I haven't read much about the different posts here. I am sure there had been a lot of posts regarding this concern of mine but I haven't really explored this site and learn how to navigate it. Pardon my ignorance. I still thank you for being patient enough to answer this and not ridicule me like the previous ones who had replied. May God bless you in your life's journey and may all your wishes come true.
  6. I appreciate your quick reply. What if I apply for a visa screen and after getting the certificate I go to US on a tourist visa, can I apply for my SSN in Cali and be granted with one? Thanks again.
  7. Hi everyone. I just passed the NCLEX. I applied at Cali Nursing Board and received a letter saying that I would need an SSN before the issuance of my license. How can I apply for an SSN when I am in the Philippines? How long before an SSN be given to an applicant? I don't really intend to apply in some agencies here. I would like to try it on my own by applying direct. Can anyone help me with this concern? Thanks and God bless us all.
