If you are looking for a non-clinical MSN (Leadership or Education) you cannot go wrong with Online University | Online Degree Programs | WGU . I'm a grad- and am starting doctoral work in a couple weeks.
Fort Hays State University charges $251 per credit hour for the online MSN degree through their virtual college. In addition, the school offers an FNP option.
Hi Commuter,
I'm starting WGU May 1st but have been undecided whether to go the RN-BSN or RN-MSN route. I will need to decide next week when my intake interview is scheduled. Anyway, with that said I am also interested in NP and so I just checked the Fort Hayes website after reading your post and couldn't find their FNP program - then I found a statement that they are no longer offering the FNP track and that a DNP program is in the works.
Then there's USA that has a wide selection of NP concentrations (for me it would be Psych NP) but from posts I've read there seems to be an underlying issue with response time to everything. I actually sent them my transcripts back in Nov as they recommend that you get an unofficial transcript evaluation before formally applying and I have yet to hear back from them. That really turned me off to USA. So I keep looking...

If your goal is to become a NP, I suggest you complete WGU's RN-to-MSN program, then apply to PMHNP post-master's certification programs afterward.

I hadn't considered that. I'm listening...I would love to get your input and knowledge about going this route. I've read lots of your posts and have already learned so much from you:cat:
If you're in Texas, I have some suggestions. There are some state schools offering online MSN programs (including Nurse practitioner), with reasonable in-state tuition. I'd have to check on out of state tuition.

Hello all! I am a BSN prepared nurse who is hoping to obtain an MSN degree. Does anyone know of a good, accredited online MSN program that won't charge an arm and a leg? I want affordability but not if it means using a college that is not well run or respected. Also, I'd prefer a program that doesn't require a GRE but I think most are requiring it these days. Thank you!!
