RN wanting to be an Esthetician

As crazy as this sounds, I'm unhappy being a nurse and wouldn't mind a huge payout to do something I'm passionate about. I'm thinking about going to esthetician school. Since I'm already licensed as an RN, when I'm ready to make more money again, do you think I could still get hired as an RN who does injectables and lasering even if I didn't actually practice as an RN for a couple of years? Just wondering. Thank you

So glad I found your post! I'm a nursing student who aspires to open my own spa after graduating and getting some experience of course. I thought I was completely crazy because I had never heard of "nurses in esthetics" before. Sorry I didn't answer your question, but I just had to say something because I totally relate!

I just got hired straight out of nursing school as a nurse injector! I had spent time on my own job shadowing 2 plastic surgeons and a NP injector! I am also paying to get certified by the NLI for the basic class in botox in juvaderm. My advice would be to get as much experience as possible a lot of doctors were really happy to let me shadow them and teach me! As well as the NP i followed for a couple days, she was a god send. Keep pursuing your dream and if its something you are really passionate about it WILL happen!! I can't tell you how many people told me I'd have to work 2 years med-surg or on the floor so i could get experience to apply for a nursing aesthetic job. Well guess what! I got hired. I feel very blessed but I spent to much of my own time getting experience so i could go straight in.

omg! congrats!!! how did you go about shadowing an MD or NP?? Ive contacted so many and haven't had any luck ;[ What state are you in btw?

How did you begin shadowing plastic surgeons and the NP?
