Before you start working in a hospital, please clarify with the hospital whether they'd give you certificates that agencies in the Philippines often need.
These documents include but are not limited to:
Certificate of employment stating: Name of the nurse, hospital position, inclusive dates of employment, number of hours worked per week and month, duty area(s) of exposure/specific areas where you worked, bed capacity, job description, duties and responsibilities.:typing
At a local hospital where I worked(in Bacolod)as a volunteer staff nurse, the hospital only gave me the certificate of employment with my name, the name of hospital, position, bed capacity, and inclusive dates without any other details. The reason they gave me was, the rest of the things stated above are only given to nurse relievers and regular nurses because they are the only ones who have names listed in the HRD. Too bad I learned to late (and became a victim) and there's no way I could turn back time. I hope this wouldn't happen to anyone, anywhere, so please, verify and don't be afraid to inquire. You need to have everything cleared and laid out.
As ma'am Suzanne used to say: "If it's not written in the legal contract, it's not there." So please, be very careful.

and that is only for the agencies that are operating out of pi. those cerificates are not very useful for the us, any training will be given on an as needed basis when you start working here. the work in the us is so very different from the philippines that all will start at a new grad level, unless you have years of experience in a specialty area.
and these are usually the same agencies that are telling you that you need exams when you do not. some that i have heard:
cgfns exam is required for all to work in the us. not true.
toefl is required for licensure in ca even if you have taken the nclex exam and have passed it. and they state this even if the nurse already has a visa screen certificate and used ielts.
toefl is only required in ca if the nurse is applying for the interim permit, but that also requires the nurse take cgfns exam, as the ip is only valid if the nurse has not tested for nclex-rn. cgfns exam is the other one that can be used for immigration.
before starting any of these programs where you have to pay or are doing is strictly as a volunteer, do your homework on this before signing. usually is not to your benefit.
