Advice for Pediatric clinical placement?

Hi there

I am a nurse from Australia and I am required to upgrade in Canada. One of the courses that I could be doing is Pediatric Nursing. I am very very very nervous and unsure to work with children. I will have to do a clinical practical not sure where as yet but I would really like to get some advice about Pediatrics and what I should be prepared for when its clinical.

Kylie, have you read some of the threads in this forum? Some of them offer very good advice on what to expect on the peds unit, how to interact with kids and parents, med administration tips and a lot of other stuff. There are some threads in the PICU forum that would help you too. You might want to do an archives search (keyword pediatrics) if you don't find anything helpful. Use the search box in the top right corner.
