Advice for a new student?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

After waiting forever (well, seemingly), I got my acceptance letter on Friday. I'm so excited! I honestly haven't been this happy in years, this was truly an answer to my prayers. Anyway, I have to do well with this. This could very well be my last shot at school for a while and I have to do better than my best...which isn't that great. I'm an average student, slightly above if I resort to just memorizing.

School starts in August and I want to make the best of the time that I have right now. Do you have any advice on what I should brush up on this summer? Anatomy? Micro? Do you remember any specific thing that you thought was particularly difficult about your first semester? I really want to make sure I'm prepared for everything they throw at us.

Thank you!:D

congrats. where did you get accepted at? i just got accepted at IVYtech and MVCTC. Good luck. I have just been reviewing a little of everything. I want to revew more but afraid I'll burn out before I even get started. LOL. Anyways good luck

Well the one thing I learned is nothing is throw-away info, I mean there are things that are just not very exciting like different insulins...but they will keep popping out on test and on the NCLEX and of course life! if there is a concept you dont understand, dont put it in the back burner but hammer at it till you get it. Also, freshen up on the anatomy of the heart, because the if you get the anatomy you'll understand all the different heart failures and so on.

If math is a wekaness, I would brush up on fractions, decimals, percentages, and division, because you will be needing those skills to complete dosage calculations. Also, I would take this time to relax, because there probably will not be a whole lot of relaxation time during school. Good luck!

Honestly, I would enjoy the free time and the weather. You will be busy once school starts, so enjoy your freedom, family, and friends.
