Advice to a new grad

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello there! I am new to this site and also a new LPN grad. I just passed the NCLEX and I'm working in a long term care facility (3 12s). Soooo....to all you nurses out there, seasoned and new, what kind of advice can you give me about transitioning into the world of nursing? How about advice on how to make my day run a little smoother? :uhoh3: I keep getting stuck at work because I'm running behind. I know this is partly due to my inexperience and therefore lack of organization in a way, etc...What helps you? I'd appreciate any advice and tia.....

Not to discredit or put down your question, but advice is splish-splashed all over this entire forum. It takes a little elbow grease and more than a few nights lurking around to get the general feel for what nursing is really all about here. I'd start with a search for "new grad advice" and sort through the many previous discussions that come up. That being said, I've asked a question that was answered previously a few times and many kind, compassionate nurses had the patience to repeat themselves in my thread. I am sure you will find equal kindness here. :)

Perhaps even try asking this same question in the Long Term Nursing forum or the LPN Corner. The answers there might be more focused on your position instead of advice for a new nurse in general.

Good luck!

Shel, you're right about advice for new grads being all over this board. I've subscribed to almost all of them :chuckle .OP, if you PM me, I can send you the links of the ones I have.

Thanks. I am definitely guilty of not having looked through the forum as much as I've liked....didn't even know there was a LT Nursing forum AND an LPN corner. OOPS.:imbar Let's just say I was extremely exhausted and was hoping to get some friendly advice so I can keep plugging away.
