Advice on jobs

I am graduating August and was offered a job on the floor where I currently work. I have not given my manager a yay or nay yet because I was planning on relocating when I graduate. I have been applying online to jobs in Florida and other states, but have not really gotten any responses yet. My question is how long should I wait before I tell my manager yes or no. I plan to tell her yes if I do not find anything else because the economy sucks and it would be stupid to turn down any job offer. I have my heart on relocating somewhere warm though. When should I stop looking online and just decide to stay here for a year or so? How easy is it to get a job as a new graduate when relocating? Thanks in advance for any help!

I am also relocating as a new grad from california to north carolina... I was unsuccessful in scheduling phone interviews so I had to take manners into my own hand... I ended up flying out of pocket for interviews and now have an offer in the intensive care unit. So in my situation it was hard to set up phone interviews- although I had been in touch with the nursing recruiter for a few months.

You should ask your manager what is the latest she would like to have an answer by, and then you can gauge your options from there.

I think you should work there for a year. Get ACLS certified and then plan for relocating. The first year of nursing is very stressful and you're going to want to do it on a floor you are familiar with and with people you know--believe me. :twocents:

I know Florida is a pretty tough place right now for new grads. Not to many opportunities, hiring freezes. You might want to try parts of Texas and NC. You also might want to rethink relocating right now and waiting till the economy picks up. You'll have more choices with some experience on your resume too. Good luck!

Very good advice from others. I would definetly wait another year and then relocate. I live in NC and its kinda hard getting a new grad position here. The postion are so competatative. You have like 300 people trying to apply for 20 new grad positions. I was lucky enough to know someone and landed a new grad position.
