Advice about class schedule?

First off, hello, kinda new here! I joined a while back but have mostly lurked a little here and there.

Anyway, just wanted some advice or anything people could tell me about this process.

So, I have only four final classes to go before I can apply to the program but they are all the sciences, Anatomy, Physiology, Micro and Pharmacology. You have to take a test before you can be admitted into either the anatomy class or the physiology class and you have to take anatomy before you can take any of the others (or intro for micro). Anyway, I really want to try for a Fall 2010 entry into the nursing program, but to do that I would need to finish all of my pre-req's by Fall of this year. Here is my tentative schedule:

Fall 09: Intro to A&P. I want to take this class for two reasons, a. because I really think that getting an idea to what it all entails will really help me when I get into the actual classes and b. because anatomy is already full for this semester :p

Summer 09: Anatomy and Intro to Microbiology (my school only requires intro). There are two ways I could do this, I could either take them both in one 16 wk session or I could take them one at a time in two 8 wk sessions. This is actually the main part I am wanting advice on. I'm not sure which would be harder... both at once, with the possibility of having tests scheduled at the same time, or the 8 wk sessions being too fast paced?

Fall 09: Physiology and Pharmacology Not much to say here. I think if I can get through the summer sessions this will be easier.

I do have to work semi-full time (about 30 hrs a week) but I my schedule will very flexible and can change as I need it to.

Sorry this is so long but any help I would sincerely appreciate!

i would think that either way you do it would be difficult (anatomy and micro). if it were me and i had to choose, i would probably take them both during the 16 week semester. at least if you are having a hard time with the material from either class, you have some time to figure out a way to be successful in the class.

good luck in whatever you decide!!!

Hi there! That is a toughie, but I would say that if it were me I would take them one at a time. It may be more fact paced, but it's only one science class for which you will have to read and study. Good luck to you!!

thanks for the replies ya'll! I actually just checked the summer schedule again and it's actually either two SIX week classes or one 11 week schedule... eek! I guess I will just have to see how my intro class goes and see how easy or hard I think it is. I am so anxious to start these classes.

Hi!

I am also at ACC aiming for a Fall 2010 entrance into the RN program. I did Anatomy last semester. This coming semester I am taking Pharmacology, Intro to Micro, and my elective Intro to Philosophy which is one of the co-reqs I need. I am going to take Speech and Statistics in the summer so I can leave Physiology as my last and only class left in the Fall of this year. I wouldn't recommend taking Anatomy and Micro together in a summer session. Just one of those classes in the summer session would be tough enough, but both together, nah. Besides, at ACC, dont you have to have Anatomy done before you can even take Micro?

Hi! I think at ACC you can take Micro if you've taken Intro to A&P first as well so that's why I was planning that. It's difficult only needing these four tough classes before I can apply! I need to finish them all this year if I'm going to apply for Fall 2010 admission. I guess I will just see how intro to a&p goes this semester and make my final decision. Let me know how pharmacology goes! I'm interested in hearing whether it's super difficult as well.
