Advice for BROWARD COLLEGE nursing program

U.S.A. Florida

So I know everyone is wayyyyyyy ahead of me. I'm literally just starting my "journey" on becoming an RN. I just need some advice and encouragement. I'm only finishing up my pre-reqs now and everyone keeps telling me I'm making a mistake trying to be a nurse at Broward. All I hear about is how hard it is, how likely it is to be dropped from the program, and how competative it is. It's already overwhelming just trying to get into any of the classes because everyone and their brother is trying to be a nurse at the school so they fill up fast. I just want to know if it really is impossible to suceed in this field at broward or if it is all a scare tactic? I'm not rich by any means, but not poor enough to get any financial aid, and my biggest fear right now is that I'm wasting a lot of time and money for something that I'll most likely fail at. It's definetly discouraging at Broward and I don't know any nurses, especially any that went to Broward, to ask for advice. Anything would help at this point. Thanks :)

Dont be discourage.. I was discourage at first, thinking that i am 33 and starting my career all over. But after coming to this site and starting be pre req i felt so much better. There were more people in my classes that had degrees in total different fields just like me, so i was not alone. This forum is awesome and you will get great advise here..

Yes we all hear tha BCC is easy to get im but very hard in class.. Students that attend BCC or has attened BCC advised to go in positive and willing to leard, Read all your assignment ans dont be afraid to ask questions..

I am trying to get in the summer term now, I am just waiting for the email to tell me that i am in or not URG!!!

But you have made a great decision on wanting to become a nurse and it is never to late from what i see on this website..

Keep it up..

All nursing schools are hard!

Now that I've been an RN for 2 years and a couple of months, I see tons of RN's from all different schools and we all have a bond because we all had the same experiences in school... such as difficult teachers, teachers that would pick on us, stories about how many people failed the first semester...... it happens.

If you want to pursue RN at BC you are not making a bad choice. And you are not making a decision where "they will fail you" on the first term.,,,,, no one fails you, you fail yourself for not studying, and not asking for help before the first term.

the instructors are there to explain things if you need help stop by their office and ask.

I am a pre-nurse student at BCC and as long you are not absent, not late, respect your professor and college peers, do your work and study, you are good to go. trust me. and don't be afraid to BCC is a good institution.

My Daughter started classes on the 25th of August 2014.Very smart girl.Passed Prerex,The helsi exam, also she allready has a AA degree. She is allways in her books studying,Reading,But all these test that are given so quickly she failed them all. With a little over 30 days since school started,How on earth are you suppose to learn all this stuff in such a short period of time?Nothing is taught from the blackboard, its all read read ,study study and get it on your own.The dean at Broward College is a complete NUT CASE.Rude.

Yea...I am also in the same boat. Maybe PTA is better at this point. I don't want to be failed for missing one question. I think their teaching skills are lacking somewhere from what I've been told. Can anyone share at least their first semester experience? Give us the good the bad and the ugly ;)

I would suggest you look in to a different program..

Like? And why?

no support , professors dont care , whats taught in class has nothing to do with their tests.. many others have written similar stories and the horrors of the program. my class started out with 110 people after the first test 60 dropped out of the class..

What is the length of the generic full time? In bcc can a student make it shorter by taking summer class

Are you still in the class?
