Advice on BAY AREA/ SF

HI. I need help and encouragement.

August 2005 was the best and worst month in my life. August 6 was my graduation day, it was better than I could ever imagine. August 15 I started my first RN position, to my surprise it would be a job that will forever impact my life. On August 28 I had to work from 7am-7pm and sleep from 7pm-7am in the hospital because Hurricane Katrina was coming into the Gulf. Once the Hurricane passed I found myself struck at my first job in my life for 5 days with no running water, or lights. But that wasn't the worst part of the month. The worst part is that, once rescued from the hospital by boat, I soon discovered that my life was no longer going to remain the way I remembered it.

Soon after leaving Louisiana, I arrived in California to begin a new life; since my old one no longer exists.:scrying: I passed my Nclex in October. :wink2:

And now I am in great need of a RN position ASAP.

I only applied to the Veterans so far because they don't require me to have a California license for employment, but I haven't heard anything from them, yet. My money is running out and I no longer am eligible for deferments on my bills because my 3 month grace period is up. I need to work or my creditors will begin to send me to the credit bureau.

Any one know of any Bay Area/SF hospitals that would love to hire a new graduate, now!!!?

I am trying to stay strong and look on the bright side of things, but its hard when you have lost everything you ever owned. On top of that, lose your job! And have to move to a new state, in search of a new beginning.

Now I understand the saying of "You don't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of":imbar

I job is the the only thing I want for christmas. Maybe I should write Santa a letter.:D

Did you CALL up the VA recently? Have you applied to any other hospitals in the Bay Area? You can go to their websites, fill out the applications forms online and followup. You can see the hospitals postings and apply for the area you are interested in. It sounds like you have not applied at more than one place. Apply several places; there are lots of areas to choose from. If you took your NCLEX in Louisana, you can apply for endorsement in California. The best way is to go up to Sacramento in person and they can get your your endorsement quickly. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice. I only applied to the Veterans because I wouldn't have to get a california license to practice in california. Plus, I don't have the money at the moment to get a california license at this time. I did look at other hospitals online jobs but none of them offered fulltime positions or seem to welcome new graduates. The good news is that I have a interview for the veterans hospital new week. Wish me luck!!!

Nurse francois,

I am an Rn new Grad moving from OH to CA. Any advice on pay ranges and hospitals that love New Rn Grads. Please let me know what happened to you?:redpinkhe

This thread is more than three years old, please look for more recent threads or start a new one. Doubt if you will get a response from this poster.

Also be aware that was happening in the past is definitely not the case now three years later in the Bay Area.

Thanks for your understanding on this.
