Adult medical day care centers

CAn anyone tell me about them? What is a typical day like, what type of med issues are most common, how does salary differ from hospitals and LTCs? I am a new RN and was curious if this wopuld be a good place for experience...

MDCU allows patients to avoid a hospital admission for treatment so expect lots of IV therapy - transfusions, chemo, IV Abx, etc and sometimes sedated MRI/CTs and other diagnostic procedures. Outpatient services usually means day shifts only.

Do you mean a place where adults can drop off their parents (under their care) while they go to work and can not supervise them? I did a rotation in school at an adult day care center like that. It was pretty neat. There was one nurse (was an LPN) that did a few med passes throughout the day. She did insulins, pills, eye drops, the normal stuff. Nothing like chemo or blood transfusions or anything like that. There were a few CNA's that took patients to the bathroom/changed their briefs. There was an activity assistant there most of the day to keep them busy with crafts, bingo, singing, a priest or minister came in every day to pray, etc. It really was a nice place for those that didn't need super heavy care, but were still in need of too much care to be left alone while their kids/caregivers were at work. No one was really "sick", it was kind of like what an assisted living place would be like, but the patients were only there for 8-10 hours a day. I did talk to the nurse. She said the pay was pretty poor, but worth it to her b/c it was a fun job without too much crazy stress.
