I'm taking pre-req's currently for an ADN program at a community college. I won't start NS for a couple years - but I will have one son in full-time kindergarten and will need childcare for my youngest. Trying to get a general idea of how much I'll need to spend on childcare now, so I can save over the next two years.
For those of you in an ADN program, can you please share what your weekly schedule looks like? Thank you so much!

I too am in an Associates program.... in general my week is
2 days of clinicals at a clinical site (6:30 am - 2 pm)
2 days of class (8-1300)
1 day as a self-study/lab skills day
There is not really "down time" when I am not in school I am studying or working. I hope you have a support system to assist with when your kids can't go to daycare or school (holidays or having a cold). Most programs only allow for missing very few days in class or clinicals as we have to be in attendance, per state BON, a certain number or hours.
GOOD LUCK to you
Thanks for the input! I don't work and my husband works in IT and can work from home if necessary on the rare occassions the kids were out.
Thanks again!

I don't start NS until next month, but here is how my schedule is going to look:
MW 9-12 Seminar class
TR 10-5 Theory 10-12 Lunch 12-1 Clinical 2-5
Fridays are free but students are encouraged to go to skills lab to practice becaues there won't be time to practice your skills in class. The skills lab is also open on Sundays for us to practice. The instructors told us that we belong to them for the next two years and from what I have read on some of the posts here it may very well be true !

Class Schedule is;
M-12:50-3
T- 11:40-1:50
W-12:50-3
Clinicals are thursday and fri for 6 hrs. This rotation I am there from 7a-1p.
I have a LOT of downtime with this program, though it seems that I am a small percentage in the whole scheme of things. I graduate in Nov with my ADN, and this program has not been time consuming since day 1. I went into this program thinking I would be SO busy and have no time to do anything outside of nursing, and I was completely wrong. A schedule like this would work well for parents and those who have to work.

So my schedule for just ADN classes is
M 9-1230
T off
W 1330-1530
H 0700-1200
F 0700-1200
that is just time spent in class/clinical. This doesn't include time getting info for my clinical (usually about 1 hour) doing prep work for clinical (usually several hours) reading, studying, or doing other random papers, worksheets, or projects, as well as practicing skills or comming in to get checked off. I know people told me that you have to read and study a lot, things I never did before, and they were telling the truth.

I am in an ADN program and I have 3 young kids-- young as in not in school full time. I don't bring them to a daycare center, I bring them to a babysitter's house which is way cheaper unless you get aid for childcare. I found the sitter through sittercity.com For my program, all the classes are 8 weeks long, so I had to get a baby-sitter who is very flexible with not always knowing what my schedule will be and always needing a different amount of hours.
My schedule for the first class was
Monday- Off
Tuesday- Class 8-1
Wednesday- Class 8-11
Thrusday-Clinical 6:45-1
Friday- Clinical 6:45-1
The rest if the classes are pretty similar, but the clinicals are one hour longer. We also have do do a certain number of skills checks per class. The very last class has 3 eight hour clinicals.
