ADN US grad planning to go out of country for work.

Published

Hey everyone, I'm an ADN grad here in the US. I have an F1 visa and currently considering moving out of the country (anywhere!) that'll take me and my associates degree. Does anybody have any tips or leads for me to follow? I'm looking at Canada or UK but anywhere that can land me a job will do. Thanks!

I have a good friend who was in your situation in 2004,F1 visa and ADN degree....she had no problems finding a hospital in Florida to sponsor her for a green card. Maybe the law has changed since.....Maybe you should inquire @ hospitals in the Miami area...lots of international nurses there. She was sponsored by Mt Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach. Her sponsorship included a green card for her husband.

Australia sounds better though....good luck

Silverdragon102: Thanks for that info. I'm currently going to school full time just to keep my status.

creativetype2007: I could do that but that's another $3000 a semester. Right now, I'm just trying to come up with as many options as I can. Option 1 is to get work, 2nd is continue my education.

pedspro:I have lots of connections in other states and would like to get sponsored as well. But that's back in 2004, now it's pretty much impossible.

On a side not, does anyone have any idea when it comes to joining the military as a nurse?

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

The thing is most nurses come under EB3 and that is currently under retrogression and at the moment you can not AOS to stay and work

Hi! I just thought I'd share... I also have a US ADN and hold a US RN license. I actually spoke to someone from the NMC Registration Department today, and I was told that I do not qualify for registration, since they require at least 3 years of nursing school. This news is devastating. :-(

I was referring to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of the United Kingdom. The 2-year US ADN isn't recognized for registration with the NMC. :crying2:

Aus accepts adn license, United Kingdom does not, New Zealand also takes in adn folks, no worries, each case is assessed individually, they will evaluate transcripts, course curriculum from school, passport, documents, and IETLS english exam with 7 in each category which can be difficult to obtain, but good luck in your search.

Hi, joecalifa! Would you know if the Australian Boards of Nursing would require work experience for registration? Thanks!
