Hey there!
Does anyone know of any ADN programs here in SoCal? (Ventura/Los Angeles County preferably) I am NOT trying to go the community college route, I am looking into private schools with no prerequisites required.
The only one I know of so far is American Career College in Los Angeles. I know one person who has been in it for about 6 months with no complaints. BUT, ACC does have mixed reviews. Has anyone been/is currently in their ADN program? How is it? I know one person who has been in it for about 6 months with no complaints.
ALL responses are greatly appreciated, thank you! :)

Hi :)
I only know of ACC as well in SoCal. but.... the only problem is hospitals are starting to only accept BSN rather than ADN. If you pretend to look for a job on a hospitals website you will see either "BSN required" or "BSN preferred." I am currently in a BSN program and many of my professors have said starting 2020 hospitals will hire only BSN. So if you get ADN, please move quickly to get your BSN.
Thanks for the response! I wanted to get the ADN as a stepping stone into my BSN, so I could start working ASAP and gain some experience for my resume. It's difficult to get all the nursing prereqs done at the CC and then get into a nursing program and their waiting lists in a decent amount of time.. What BSN program are you in?

sasmalls, I am so happy i found someone like you who think the same thoughts. Are you planning to attend ACC for their ADN soon? I am going to do LVN in October and then I am planning to go to ACC later to do my ADN. Do you know approximately how much does the program cost and how long would it take to finish the ADN?

Hi there! :)
Just wanted to let you know that when I was in LVN school back in 2008, my instructors told us that LVNs would be phased out within the next 10 years. Although they may not be hired as much in acute care hospitals, 'phased out' is the last thing I've experienced in my career so far. I've been fortunate enough to work for private sector acute care/surgical practices as well as public sector (school systems).
My point is, please don't be discouraged by instructors/professors telling you whatever they say about what hospitals will or will not be doing. Ultimately the decision is yours and you should not base your future on what they say. Dig and do your own research. For example, a local hospital near me prefers hiring RN-BSN however they will hire RN-ADN as long as they enroll into a BSN program within a year of employment and they (the hospital) offer tuition assistance. There's always a silver lining. Best of luck!!

Several hospitals are still accepting ADN/ASN candiates. My hospital system ~ Dignity Health accepts associate degreed RNs, as does Prime, Gardena Memorial, The VA and Kaiser. You can find these openings by checking their websites, additionally enrolling in a BSN program upon receipt of your RN license increases your chances of being hired.
Good luck in your endeavors!
