Hello?
Please, FSMFN students... I know you are out there! I really hope to get in to Class 65 (Feb 2009) and would like to connect with someone that has gone to Frontier Bound recently so as to know what to expect.
This is all I've ever wanted and I only want to do it at Frontier.
Anyone out there?
Sorry..I haven't been to Frontier Bound yet. There are several of us on here who are set to go with Class 64 in early December. Hopefully one of the current students will answer your questions, if they're not too busy studying :typing!
Good luck with your application! The phone interview isn't that bad--quite friendly. Just be prepared to say why you want to be a CNM and how you will manage to be a distance-student and juggle life at the same time!
Good luck and keep us posted!!
FM, I am also a hopeful FSMFN student. I will be finishing up my RN-ADN soon!! I plan on applying to the 67,68,69,70 class hopefully the earliest class if all goes well. You will have to post as you can through the process. So many students start too but do not continue. I can only assume that the program is sooo demanding that it does not allow for extra time at the computer. Love you screen name, I went to school in columbus, ohio with a girl that was called fertile myrtle. lol, brings back band camp memories, games all kinds of antics!! Look forward to more posts.
And mine came almost 30 mins. late....LOL.
Questions are run of the mill - why do you want to be a Midwife, what life experiences do you have that contribute to your decision. Can you meet the demands of grad school. What life sacrifices are you willing to make (ie, job hours) to ensure you finish school.
It was a piece of cake really. NOTHING to be nervous about at all.
I am a current FSMFN student, about ready to graduate and take Boards next month. The phone interview is no big deal, just what the others said, why do you want to be a midwife, how do you plan to juggle being a student and a wife/mom/nurse/insert other roles you play here. Frontier Bound is amazing, a truly transformational experience and it is the friendships that you make there that will help you get through the program. It is a tough program, but if you take it one step at a time you will one day be done. Best of luck to you!

I have applied to Frontier's Bridge program (for the Feb 2009 session) and I am now just waiting for my phone interview.
Suggestions? I feel the need for a little pep talk...
I am very excited to (finally) be able to continue my education. I went into nursing as a step toward my ultimate goal of midwifery. Is anyone currently enrolled in this program or in their MSN program? This will be my first experience at "distance" learning.
