Is it true that you can sit for the lpn exam and get your license when you've completed about 50% of the Associate Degree RN program?

Thanks!

It depends on the program you are in, as well as requirements of your state BON. At a community college near me, you can, but then must reapply for the Mobility or Bridge program to complete your RN. You must also work 500 clock hours before you can go back as well. Hope this helps.

That's the way it worked in my program. I've been working since I passed the NCLEX-PN in Feb, and will graduate with my ADN Dec. 17th.

No Bridge requirements to continue, no mandatory hours worked. I was a month until my 3rd semester when I started working.

I did. My program offered an LPN certificate after the first year of the ADN was completed. I worked as an LPN during my second year of the RN program.

THANKS EVERYONE!!:yeah:

Not all programs permit this, nor do all of the states. You need to check directly with your BON as well as your school.

NYS used to allow an ADN-RN student to sit for PN boards when three of the four clinical semesters have been completed. The rules changed a few years ago, however, as the fourth semester was found to have components that were not met (and were needed for PN) by that time.

So in NY, there is no sitting for the LPN boards until you have passed all four RN nursing semesters. Which makes the point moot, obviously, as you'd then sit for NCLEX-RN.
