Admission to BHSON 2014

Published

Hi,

I recently submitted my application to Bridgeport Hospital School of Nursing for this fall. Who is with me? I'm so excited yet nervous. I hope I get in. Anyone got and acceptance letter ye?

Can now log in as a student little by little September will be here before you know :)

Bridgeport needs to hurry up on this admissions process.

I guess no news is good news lol

I know September will be here so soon and actually to get technical I believe we start at the end of August. Has anyone gotten anything yet for school? Stethoscope, blood pressure cuff, books?

I haven't gotten anything yet because I don't know what books we need. I have a stethoscope that I use while I work on the ambulance but I'm getting a new one, I'm torn between 2 types of the Littmann.

I have the Littmann II. It's pretty good. Which ones are you looking at? I bought a couple of books so far. Not textbooks obviously but just suggested extra texts to use throughout the program. I highly recommend Saunders NCLEX RN comprehensive review. It was recommended to me and it's absolutely amazing.

I will definitely get that book, I have a Littmann from 11 years ago, (love it) it works good enough for the ambulance but all my friends who are nurses recommend the cardiology III or the master cardiology they say it works wonderful for pediatrics and awesome heart sounds. I think I'm going go order the Littmann III it's a little cheaper and will serve all my needs.

You'll love it. I've already been reading through it. It outlines fundamentals, pediatrics, maternity, med surg, psych and basically everything else we cover in school. It has practice questions and rationales it's so broken down that you can start reading it now and know things before we even print our first PowerPoint lol. I also bought a "fundamentals success book" and "test taking success for first year nursing students" both books are by the same author and from the same group but they are great and also highly recommended. I tried to get a jump start so I wouldn't be killed with buying books all at once.

I'm the same way so these will be very useful.

I work with several nurses that are BHSN grads. Everyone has said that you will rarely use the assigned books.

Also, a little tidbit of info. They DO NOT like know-it-alls. I was very clearly told recently to keep quite and do it their way. After 11 years as an aide etc I am approaching this as I have never learned from the perspective of a nurse (yes it is different) so I want to learn all the things.

@Penholder I agree with that to, I'm going in as it being all new to me. Did they say what books they would recommend getting? the less I have to buy the better since my income is limited once I start school.

I can find out. I'm in the same situation. I usually scour amazon etc for books anyway. Also check savers-I have seen loads of nursing books there. I have grabbed some general ones as I have seen them.

Right now I'm just trying to get through the last month of micro and AP. Anyone taking AP2 this summer?
