I'm not quite sure what the Admin does, but I'm pretty sure it's not the DON's job. Our Admins seems to want to poke his nose in the nursing aspect..even going so far as to do a physical assesment on a resident in front of the nurse. He once kicked me out of my residents room when the resident was making a general statement about "wanting to die" cause he was hurting so bad and one of the staff members heard him and made a big deal out of it saying he was suicidal and so I had to send him to the hosp. He didn't want to go, famiy didn't want him to go because he wasn't serious. He was hurting. So the admin. goes in to the room and then turns around and tells me I need to go answer the call lights. IT WAS MY PATIENT. DON'T I HAVE THE RIGHT AS HIS NURSE TO BE THERE ?? I mean this guy thinks he's a freaking nurse or a dr. He's even gone so far as to tell another nurse to order xrays and such w/o consulting the Dr. because a resident said her leg was hurting. no swelling no redness, no bruising. just hurting. she told him and he told the nurse to get an xray. and the nurse did it. i would not have take any medical order from him. He is not a dr. let alone that woman's dr.
so what exactly is his job suppose to be as an admin ??
