Administration

I have been a nurse for 21 years, and my goal has always been to be an Administrator in long term care, well in the middle of my career path I started working in acute care and have grown to love it as much as I do long term care. I am currently working on my MSN with emphasis in health care administration. I was recently offered a job as AIT, which is administrator in training at a nursing home, the company would pay for my Administration training. I want to be in a place for advancement and growth. My question is which is better long term care or acute care? Which one has better changes for advancement?

i would go with somebody willing to pay for my training. i think that long term care CAN offer a lot of growth opportunities, but think outside the box,not just in the 4 walls of the particular place you are at. the way that long term care is blowing up across the US, it would be MY personal choice...

I agree - the opportunity for (free) training is golden. LTC desperately needs talented nursing administrators to create environments that support quality resident care and practice excellence for nursing staff!!
