Adelphi vs Molloy

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello! I am currently a high school senior who has been recently accepted into the nursing program at both Adelphi University and Molloy College. Although both schools are known to have strong programs, I am extremely anxious to make a decision. I have visited both schools, but never got to ask how the students really felt about the programs. If anyone has any advice or input about their personal experiences, good and bad, at either or of the schools, it would really help me make a decision. Thanks!

CONGRATULATIONS!

You already got accepted at both? Did you early action them?

Did either school give you money?

I live on LI. The "flavor of the month" changes as far as nursing schools go, which one is the best, bla bla bla. I would go to both schools, walk around and talk to admissions.

My niece just started the Molloy Nursing program this September on full scholarship.

Congratulations on your acceptance to both!

I am currently at Adelphi. I'm really disliking the program. When I got accepted no one informed me of who my advisor was. So I registered and had my schedule waiting for almost 2 months to be approved. I had to take the initiative and email someone to find out how to get it approved. Since then it's been nothing but more problems. The accelerated director and my advisor do not communicate. I get two different answers from them. No one knows how anything works. Also, I just started this past September, yet somehow my file states I'm graduating in May. They called me to congratulate me and then told me a lot of the students' files have been messed up. Well, that was the last straw for me. I've begun applying to other programs to get out of Adelphi.

As for Molloy, I don't know much about their program itself, but I do have a story about the admissions process. I applied, got rejected, was told to come in for an interview. A week before my interview I received a phone call, "no need to come in! We reviewed your file again and decided you have sufficient material to be accepted! You will receive your official letter in a couple of weeks in which you'll have to pay a deposit to hold your spot. Do so as quickly as possible as it's already late in the registration period." I was so excited. Weeks went by...no letter. Months went by...no letter. (I'd been accepted to Adelphi at this point so I gave up on Molloy.) Well, I finally got my letter approximately 1 month ago. It was a second denial letter. I emailed admissions and received no response.

I know your experience will be MUCH different than mine, and I know people who've gone to Adelphi and absolutely loved it. But, for me, I dislike both schools. Good luck with your decision! I hope you make the best choice for you.

If your avatar is an actual picture of you, I would recommend changing it to something more anonymous so your comments are not negatively tied to you somehow sometime in the future. The nursing community as you know is extremely small on Long Island, and since you are a student right now, you never know if a potential employer is indeed an alumnus from Adelphi or Molloy that could read this ...

Just a heads up! :)

I didn't say anything negative about Molloy, I was only stating the facts about what happened to me. And Adelphi already knows how I feel about them, as I've stated it several times to several people about the lack of communication. Thanks though. Plus I don't look like my avatar.
