Adelphi Manhattan BSN program - NOT for full-time workers!

Published

This is a public service announcement for anyone who needs to work full-time (or close to it) and is thinking of Adelphi University in Manhattan for a BSN. True that the lectures are in the evening (many start at 5pm, sharp) but from the mouth of the dean last week we were told that the program is not designed for people who work full-time, and that, quote, You will not be successful in the program if you do. I had to drop back to SUPER part-time school because I have to work days (even with some flexibility), and may not even be able to complete my degree thanks to the school's poor clinical planning.

I saw several posts that say Adelphi is an evening program for full-time workers...not true!

"poor clinical planning."

what school has bad clinical planning?

personally I hate clinical; I rather be down and married to my book.

I graduated from Adelphi. I don't have the best words in response to what the dean said, but don't let his words discourage you. Don't let ANYONE over there discourage you. It's YOUR dream. Put your heart into it and make it happen. You'll be proud that you did. I know I am.

Usually most nursing programs tell their students not to work fulltime. My school had me sign an agreement, stating I would not work fulltime. Nursing school is very demanding, your dean was actually giving you good advice.

Hey,

We were told the same thing during our first semester and our second and third and fourth. I worked full time through the program on an 11-7 shift 40hrs a week, and my grades were pretty good! Don't let anyone tell you it can't be done!

Hi Lifetime learner,

Just curious if you took chem 109 at Adelphi? I just registered last night for chem 109, N 255 and N 275. For chem 109 (in Garden City) there are only 2 sections available, one starts at 7AM and the other ends at 9:30PM! I chose the PM one but since I'll most likely be commuting by train I'm afraid I won't get home until 11:30-12 :sniff:. I wish they offered this class at the manhattan campus! If you don't mind me asking, how are your current classes going? What are you currently taking?

Thanks,

M.P.
