I'm thinking of moving to the DC/Maryland area. I'm having an extremely hard time obtaining a clinical RN position in NY. WHC looks like it provides an excellent program.

I graduated from Adelphi. I don't have the best words in response to what the dean said, but don't let his words discourage you. Don't let ANYONE over there discourage you. It's YOUR dream. Put your heart into it and make it happen. You'll be proud that you did. I know I am.

This thread has been a great resource for me in addition to multiple choice questions. My exam is about a week away so I thought that I would contribute to this great discussion. Most antidepressants and antipsychotics take a couple of weeks to take effect. When it starts to look like there's an initial increase in the level of activity and energy, they are still at risk for ideation and should be put on suicide/safety precautions because they now have the energy to carry out such thoughts. For pt's in crutches, remember UP with the strong, DOWN with the weak (when it comes to stairs) Cheyne-Stokes respirations: cerebral lesion, ICP Children with cystic fibrosis should get a yearly influenza vaccine. I work as a Unit Sec. and usually if I can't decipher chicken scratch, i'll try to catch the doctor if they're still on the unit and ask them to read it for me. Some have been nice enough to rewrite the order! I've noticed that if I do it enough, they'll be sure to let me know after they write an order or be neater!

I currently work in staffing and I absolutely HATE calling people on days when they're not supposed to work but its part of the job, especially when the DON's are constantly asking about it. I know most calls are screened... (alot of people have similar sounding answering machines, lol)

I wouldn't stop working. I'd become a secret philanthropist and invest in real estate.

I deal with a similar problem at my University. Dragonfly is right. If you can get a copy of that, try to and use that to your advantage. Don't stop at the nursing dept. IMO, you worked too hard for this to happen. Don't let them take it away.
