Hey everyone,
once again...I would more than appreciate anyone that can help with a page number. I am looking for the page number from Ackley and Ladwig, Nursing Diagnosis Handbook.
I am working on a care plan based on MDS, and of course there isn't another Safety Dx applicable.
The book I have does not have risk for falls, ugh.

mds - maternal deprivation syndrome, or myelodysplastic syndrome? couldn't you have spelled the condition out?
you should be posting this kind of question on one of the student forums where there is lots of help available for writing care plans. click on the "students" tab above to get a listing of those forums.
any (safety) nursing diagnosis you use is going to based upon the patient's symptoms or needs and not necessarily upon their medical diagnosis. i have a copy of nursing diagnosis handbook: a guide to planning care, 7th edition, by betty j. ackley and gail b. ladwig and the risk for falls information is on page 479. it is indexed at the back of the book under "falls", not "risk for". you can also see this information on the companion website here: [color=#3366ff]risk for falls
please understand that this book is a reference book much like a dictionary or an encyclopedia. you should be using it to verify that you have the correct symptoms that match the nursing diagnosis that you want to use so that you are diagnosing correctly. the nursing interventions and outcomes are a bonus feature that the authors offer.
Well, wow, sorry I did everything wrong.
for your information, MDS, minimum data sheet -- for long term care facilities.
for you further information, I do know what I am doing with care plans, I simply need a page number, didn't think that was too much to ask.
Sorry, I'll look elsewhere for someone more willing to help than criticize.

Sounds like you are being a bit critical as Daytonite was simply trying to help you out as she has done with her free time with other students on this board...and who are very grateful to her.

this is why you shouldn't use abbreviations. i found your post by doing a search for "diagnosis" as i always do looking for people looking for help with nursing diagnosis or care plans. i answer care plan posts all the time. most of them are from students who post on the student forums, but sometimes they post on the general nursing discussion forum so i often search for them. before i posted my reply for you i checked your public profile which clearly says that you are a nursing student!!!! is that a mistake? i, therefore, assumed you were a nursing student. maybe you should correct the information on your profile and clarify what you mean by mds the next time you use it or post a question like this on the geriatric and ltc forum. i would not expect a nursing student to know that mds means minimum data set. it was not my intention to criticize but to instruct and help you.
