It is Metabolic Acidosis b/c the pH is decreased so that indicates acidosis and the Bicarbonate is also decreased b/c normal is 22-26 (so go back to the ROME) and they are both eqaul in that they are decreased so it is metabolic acidosis!
Acid-base balance is one of those difficult topics that is worth the effort to get a handle on before test day. Do a search in this forum and you can find some good posts from the past on the subject.
it is metabolic acidosis because the ph is acidic (7.35-7.45), the paCO2 is normal(35-45), the HCO3 is acidic (22-26). therefore it is metabolic acidosis with no compensation.
